How much liquor do you have to drink?

To make you smell like a bottle of Jameson, from 30 feet away.?
My partner's high school buddy has been helping us out at the rentals. Honestly, he is pretty much useless, but my partner keeps him close, because he feels some kind of loyalty to his family .My partner always makes sure he is still alive a few times a week, and feeds him .
Guy came from a somewhat prominent family.
He showed up to work Sunday morning , about 2.5 hours late. I was up on the second floor, and i could honestly smell liquor as soon as he walked in the door. He was freshly showered, and wearing clean clothes, so the smell was oozing from his pores .
He started making a bunch of excuses as to why he was late. I looked him in the eye, and told him that he will not live a long life if he keeps going like this.
According to our other helpers he is like this 7 days a week.
Alcoholism is a sad thing .

It is not how much, but how long. Drinking all day, every day for years is what it takes. Perpetually hung over. Alcoholism is a very sad thing.

I had a secretary that hit rock bottom and kept going. At her second hearing her health provider volunteered that she is basically carrying a high base-line level of alcohol all the time and just needs one or two drinks to get flying. It was a very sad thing to see, she was a very nice lady. Her liver was shot and the body couldn't clear the alcohol from her system. I had her in rehab for 30 days (hospital setting), but she soon returned to her drinking. After the 2nd incident she was taken to the hospital and blew a 0.27 in the middle of the day. At the end she was putting vanilla extract into Vanilla Coke (she thought no one could smell the alcohol (40 % alcohol) disguised in the coke). She had a choice of being fired or allowed to resign, so she took the latter choice.

Yep, it's no fun.

I grew up in an alcoholic family. It was my dirty little secret until I first talked about it at about aged 55. The beatings, being constantly yelled at, the psychological abuse. It's something that you never recover from. Alcoholics are selfish; it's a choice not a disease.

If we are just talking breath smell this is interesting. I have a pal (52-ish) that can drink 20 beers in a night and he is hurting the next day. He does not have that oozing from the pores smell. It's unmistakable but he does not have it. They don't have to breathe on you to pick it up.

Other people I know stink to the high heavens and I think they drink less but I am not spending hours with them to see what they actually drink. Includes my son before he went sober.

Metabolism?

Lungs are full of blood and pores. Breathing gets rid of alcohol from the bloodstream. If you have had waaaay to much to drink a long walk home can save you from a hangover.

I thought for sure I'd open this thread and find a picture like this:

I did it anyway.

I only know of one alcoholic. She's a high-functioning professional. She just sometimes takes a few days off work and goes on a bender. Then she recovers, goes back to work, and confines her drinking to the weekends.....then to the evenings.....then a few months later she's on another bender...

The 20 beer guy that does not stink works his natural ass off in a factory so his lung capacity is probably pretty good. It's not aerobic but he lifts 75-100lb bags all day mixing adhesives.
