Anyone live in the Vancouver or Surrey area of BC Canada?

Anyone live in the Vancouver or Surrey area of BC Canada?

Long time friend of mine moved there a few months ago "for a guy" and as usual it did not work out. She has a good job there and is planning on staying but knows no one in the area. She is in her mid-30 and a really nice girl, so wondering if anyone on the forum is in the area?

Thx,

Joe A

Oh definitely, there are several Pelicans in that part of BC. They don't post in OT very often, but they check in on the Pacific NW forum on a regular basis.

Pacific NorthWest -US (WA/ID/OR/UT/HI/AK) - Pelican Parts Technical BBS

If you post your inquiry on that forum, I would bet a Canadian Doubloon (or even a Quadruploon) that they respond in their usual excellent way.

(insert Great White North theme song)

This is super nice of you... are you part Canadian?

Thanks and never thought of looking there. Great idea!

Ps my copilot is from the GWN, so I know the song very well!

This is the start of the cold rainy season up there, but it's a very vibrant city, people always out doing things. Before you know it, she'll have rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes like all Canadian women. It's really quite amazing.

She is from Ontario so already has the rosey cheeks! Have known her for about 10 years now and a really nice woman. She is glad to be away from the cold Eastern part of the GWN but still its hard to be anywhere and alone.

The guy she moved out there to be with is a cop and he started to play games with her, so she is out on her own now. Will look on the other forum tomorrow...

I grew up in Panorama Ridge (Surrey), lived in South Surrey/White Rock for a few years in my 20's, live in Langley (next municipality east) and our ATC Facility is in Surrey. Our new shop, Turn3 Autosport is also in Surrey, though the very northeast part. My dad lives in Guilford (the north part of surrey) and many many friends live throughout Surrey. Know just about every Pelican who lives in Metro Vancouver (which includes Surrey/Langley) and many more.

We have lots of room at our table for dinner guests! Oh, and we have a few eligable bachelors at work.... Everyone at the shop is spoken for though.....

Contact me offline if you like Joe.

Cheers

Randy,

Used to have a girlfriend in Vancouver and really enjoyed it up there. Just too far for a relationship.

Jeff,

Dammit, forgot you were in that neck of the woods. Will be getting ahold of you.

Thanks, Joe

I'm in White Rock (next to Surrey)... I don't get out as much these days (nailed down with work and young kids), but I'm always looking for an excuse!

There are a lot of Pelicans in the area, I live on one of the islands between the mainland and the "big island" (Vancouver Island...not to be confused with Vancouver). I'm sure many will chime in. Scratch the surface, and we're a pretty friendly lot. Cheers

She got stuck there because of this guy, and now that she is there thats evidently where her work is. Once she gets a bit more on her feet she can look for better places to be.

Check the Canada forum. Surrey is a bit rough and Vancouver, while nice, is expensive to live in. There are lots of worse places that she could have wound up, thats for sure.

Hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, etc.

I actually don't live in Surrey

However saying that Surrey is horrid is like saying Vancouver is Horrid. The downtown eastside of Vancouver is worse than any part of Surrey... Some very very nice neighbourhoods are in Surrey as well, and very sought after. Yes, it has it's shady areas, but it is not what it used to be. Not defending it, just pointing it out.... I would never live in the Newton or Whalley areas of Surrey, just like I would never live in the Marpole or Eastside of Vancouver.

Well said Jeff, I've lived in S Surrey before and it was nice, lots of Surrey has evolved into newer suburbs and don't deserve the "Surrey" thing, lots of area's still need to evolve. I live in Poco, on the same street for 25 years, it was the country once, not anymore. Someone said it was expensive in Vancouver, thats true but its expensive everywhere in the lower mainland.

I hope she sticks it out long enough to get settled cause it is a great place to call home.
