Best wheel dollies

I need 4 dollies for rolling the bug around (and also a 911 in the future - I hope). Also the Vanagons, so I need ample weight capacity. Of course, I want to just slide them under the wheels and lift it without using a floor jack. I don't mind spending a bit. Any advice?

I believe horrible freight sells these and puts them on super-specials periodically. Have one nearby?

Edit - just noticed you don't want to jack the car up - I don't think the HF version would work.

HF does have them. I just want to make sure I'm not buying something online, only to find out it's junk when I get it.

i bought 4 of the Allstar branded ones on amazon. $70 for a pair with free prime shipping. the reviews are the best...the HF ones are very chincy compared to these. I am super happy with them. they'd be solid enough for a vanagon

edit....also realized you want the ones that jack the car up, too. check out amazon...more money, but I would stay away from HF jacks and jack stands.

Looked at Amazon. Very mixed reviews, but with all of them, it seems to be difficult to raise the car, and also difficult to move the car around. Your experience?

I bought a pair of these (I only need to swing the rear of the car in place so only needed 2).

Amazon.com: Set of Four 1500 lb 12" Wide Hydraulic Car Wheel Dolly Jack Lift Air Tool Shop: Automotive

They were dirt cheap (inexpensive) but they seem ok to me. They are heavy as heck. The only weakness over time may be the hydraulic jack part, but from what I can see you can replace those for very cheap if they go bad. Obviously this stuff is coming from China, but there's no safety issues with these, so I'm willing to roll (pun intended) the dice.

This is for a car that I don't drive very often, so I am not jacking them up and down every day. Maybe 3 times a month.

So far so good. Been around 6 months.

I have a set, they work fine for me. It's a steel plate contoured for your tire with heavy duty casters, I'm not really sure how they can be good or bad.

I bought a set to move around the old 930. Got home , put them together, set the car up on them and went to move it. Did not even go 6 inches, and a wheel broke off, at the bearing . Drove back to hf, they gave me a replacement. ( which had 5 wheels in the box) and proceeded to break off two more wheels before getting to the other side of the garage. My garage floor is not exactly perfect, they may work better on smooth new concrete but my experience was not so good.

That's bad luck. I had my Carrera on them for the better part of a year and had no issues, even rolling them across the concrete joint in the middle of my garage.

I have the HF set - they are horrible. I can't move them, even when I asked a buddy to help me push it was extremely difficult. The wheels just won't roll.

ive got the HF units and could not be happier. I was skeptical of the steel casters, but after using them for a while I realized that any sort of rubber wheels would not turn as a caster should due to too much grip. its not feather like to move around, but the slippage the steel casters provide make them slide into the correct orientation to roll with some force. for minor adjustments I have manually pointed the casters to aid in movement. I got them from a HF store so the poor quality surprise upon opening the shipped box was out of play.

even using the floor jack its like 5 minutes up or down. ive got more time than money, so breaking out the floor jack is a small price to pay for increased garage space. my 2 cents.

Thanks. Gojack does seem to look most promising.
