Father-in-law passed last night,1-1000
FIL passed last night from Alzieimers, 88 years old. He was a great guy who went to college, enlisted, and joined the Army Air Corp. He never saw action, but trained the pilots who did. He is only one of the 1000 WW2 veterans who are dying each day. What a great family to marry into.

Today is our next to last day in Europe and we went to the Normandy beaches. I spoke with several WW2 vets today at Omaha Beach and I thanked them for services and they all said they were just doing their job. I am proud of my FIL who we lost 17 years ago who flew C47's and allowed me to marry my wife. Your post has touched me and makes me greatfull for everything I have and I can say I feel your loss.

88 year run sounds pretty good to me.
 My condolences to all he left behind. Also, a big thank you for what he did for this country.

Thanks to all for your thoughts. My wife went to Normandy a few years ago and she said she was spellbound by the site. All those men, all those families left behind. I agree with today's military with what they went through and get such a great welcome on the way back. But when you see the footage of WW2, these were such a different time and venue. My FIL would, in the later years, go outside with me and tell me about "those clouds" overhead and the ones you don't want to fly in. Well, he's up there now and really enjoying it.

My sympathies to you and your family. Thanksgiving will have more meaning to your family this year and they reflect on your father-in-law's life...
