I figured it out

Friday morning my plumber and I were trying to set the new whirlpool tub that's going into my bathroom. It weighs 250 pounds and about 70% of the weight is on one end. You aren't supposed to lift it by the rim and you have to get it into the air and set it straight down into a bed of mortar, so there is no sliding. We were thinking about chainfalls, pallet jacks, engine hoists - all kinds off crazy stuff. We were really stymied. He left for lunch and I continued to think about it and suddenly it came to me. I put eye bolts into the end of an 8 foot 2x4 and into the center of a shorter one. I screwed the shorter one to the wall and connected the two eye bolts with a short piece of rope. I wrapped a long rope around the tub and over the long 2x4. I was testing it, putting the long 2x4 on my shoulder and lifting with my legs and lifting the light end with my hands - and it slipped right into place. When the plumber came back I lifted it again and we set it on some 2x8s on edge while we put the mortar under it. Piece of cake!

Cool. Why is the texture under the tub so jagged?

i made something similar to pull old fence post. the lifting tool was a bottle jack. i think i calculated something like 3 tons of lifting. i was pulling the concrete foundations with ease. saved me the digging.

nicely done.
