Cool Hand Luke
Great movie, outstanding cast (Paul Newman, Strother Martin, George Kennedy, Harry Dean Stanton, Dennis Hopper, etc etc) AND the plastic Jesus song!

Amazed that nobody has mentioned American Graffiti. It was set in '62...I left high school in '61. Maybe that's why I liked it...

I don't really remember movies in the 70s beyond Endless Summer & Go For It!. Lord Of The Rings trilogy is one of my favorites along with What The Bleep Do We Know?!

Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I was 11 when it was released, and we all wanted to be like that when we got to high school.

Two movies came out while I was in high school that pretty much defined everything that mattered....

Endless Summer and Grand Prix

2001 A space Odyssey is number one. Blazing Saddles is a close second.

+1 on Ferris Buehler. The Dambusters.(actual even before I was borne).
No country for old men. Tommy Lee Jones. So I would qualify somewhat . The bad dude still creeps me out. Watch out for those low cost motels.

Either "Silence of the Lambs" or "Star Wars". Both were amazing and revolutionary movies that redefined cinematic expectations.

Airplane
Spinal Tap
Life of Brian
Holy Grail
Up in Smoke

When I meet folks who know repeat lines from these movies...I know we are going to have a good time!

Jperry wins!!!

jperry is the winner!!!! The right answer is STAR WARS!!!! Saw it when I was just seven years old with my Grandfather (who was a great guy!) May have even been my first time in a real movie theatre as I grew up in a very isolated northern town.

Christien 11-22-2012 04:15 PM

I remember seeing Star Wars in the theatre - it's one of my earliest memories. It was 1977. I was two. That story will probably impress my grandkids when I'm old :)
