Detroit v. Houston: The Worst Call Ever
Throwing a challenge flag in good faith should not result in a score. So says my high-school football referee father-in-law, whom usually sides with the officials. He was outraged that a simple procedural mistake by a coach would result in a score when the runner was very obviously down. He does think the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty should have stood, but been applied to the next play after the scoring play was reviewed.
That is all.

Didn't see the game, but read about the play. So let me get this straight: every TD/score and turnover is automatically reviewed. But if you accidentally throw a challenge flag on the play, it cancels the automatic review? So no review? Plus you get some penalty on top of that on the ensuing play? Seems ridiculous that asking for a review (even if done so erroneously) would make it impossible to have the play reviewed.

It was a truly weird call. It all started with the refs who refused to blow the whistle when the guy had a knee and elbow on the ground. I'm sure in the heat of the moment, the coach forgot that all scoring plays are reviewed. There must be more to why they did this that may effect the game if it is done in a different manner. Anyway, really bad.

It was bizarre, but the coaches have to know the rules just like the players do. IIRC, Schwartz got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for throwing the flag. He's the most unsportsmanlike coach in the NFL today. No sympathy from me. And what do you know, another Thanksgiving, another Suh stomp on an opposing player, this time it was Matt Schaub's groin. Suh should be tossed from the NFL. My 2 cents.

I agree. With his past he doesn't get a pass from me on a border line purpose kick.

Check it out.... #1....his leg is lifted up there for a reason. To inflict contact. #2....decides to give it an extra "tap" to a crucial area of Schaub. 3#....he should have been tossed right then and there. #4....should be at least fined today. #5....he's a dirty player. #6....ultimately it's Detroit's problem....they need to deal with it...but they won't because the team has no integrity

Here is the play in question. Yes, it is one of the worst calls in history. A blind man could see it.

This falls solely on the coach regardless if we agree with the rule or not. He knew the rule, but made an irrational decisions. Irrational decisions have consequences, and losing the ability to have the play reviewed was the consequence that cost them the game.
And Suh? I've looked at it and I don't think it was on purpose. Regardless, he'll likely be fined based on reputation alone. I would ban Ray Lewis form the league for being a murderer before I would ban Suh for hitting someone in the jewels.

I'm sure that Shaub was wearing a cup.
With the direction of Suh's head, I doubt he knew where his feet were.

There are always questionable calls. And missed calls. There was a face-mask done to Andre Johnson that was not called. They ran the replay. So it runs both ways.

They have to change the rules in regards to video review. It doesn't make sense having people make these game changing calls with all the video footage to make the correct call. Poor call...
