Flying Southwest Airline. How to get early boarding?

I was poised over the online check in button. Once I was 24 Hours prior to my actual flight Boom! I hit the button. Argh! B- group! How to get A group seat? People using software to snipe the quick check in?

Joe Bob 11-24-2012 07:12 AM

Take a cane and ask for preboarding.....

Vash, I think it's almost mandatory that you pay the extra $10 (not sure on the amount these days) for the "early boarding" option ,, gets you an A seat.
No worries however C stands for center seat, you should still be ok

Drag yer left leg up to the counter when you check in,

I did that last week....seriously! But I was really hurt. They let me pre board no problem.

You need to pay the $10 extra to get "A" group.

Last week I had six flights on SW and was in the B group for all six but still got aisle seats. I don't care where I sit as long as I have an aisle.

What's the advantage of the A group? I usually prefer to be last on, first off.

Joe Bob 11-24-2012 07:45 AM

Last on, last off usually...unless I have a lot of carry on. I don't like to stand inline with my thumb in mebuttocks....

I always fly out of Burbank where you board and depart from both ends of the plane. Sooo much easier.

I hate SW.....Cattle going to slaughter get better treatment....

On domestic routes being last on means the overhead bins are full and they will check your carry on bag. So now instead of wheeling off the plane and directly to the airport exit you are stuck for 30+ minutes in baggage claim. Getting early seating and an asile/window are the best perks for frequent fliers.

Have a few babies and fly with them!

They used to be that way but no longer. If you check in the minute its open, or spend the extra $10 for early checkin its fine.

Problem with "C" check-in is that there can be little room for a carry-on bag. I will fly SWA anytime over the others now that almost everyone charges for a checked bag.

Flop your middle leg up on the counter when you check in.

When we've flown southwest, it's always with kids, so we get priority boarding anyway.

81Kremer930 11-24-2012 10:47 AM

Bring some children with you. Works like a charm:)

Thanks for the reminder. I'm flying to Seattle on Monday. Going to cough up $20 for the round trip early check in fee.

Commercial travel today is all like riding the bus. There is nothing good about it. At least SW doesn't kid you that is is glamorous. Look at the way people dress when they fly, most of them look like slobs. They don't deserve first class treatment.

Thats the problem. We grew up when flying was something you dressed up to do, and now, well now its like a circus...

Damn Joe, I remember the days when the stewardess would compliment you on your tie. Now I fly in T-shirt , flip flops and shorts!!!

Q what's the difference between a stewardess and a flight attendant ?
