just for a little more confusion, farther south some of the carpool lanes have changed so that you can come and go at will, kinda like in Washington State.

Without paying, but still two or more?

When we were up in WA, we were afraid to cross the solid line the separates the normal traffic and the carpool, but the solid line went on forever. We then finally jumped out.

two or more, they have been changing in south county for a while, dotted lines for the car pool. I haven't read anything about it but then I am always alone so can't get in them anyway.

YOU do not have to prove anything. They are the ones who have to prove that you were alone in the vehicle.

Nice thing about Arizona is that you can cross the white line for the HOV lane at anytime, coming or going.

Sometimes I wonder why do they have to change all that crap around and make it different between counties? It was fine and was uniform throughout the state. What wrong with the way its been for the past 30 years?

Here's the deal:
the federal gubmint offers the state lots O'our money ot build car-pool lanes, whcih the state usually has to match.
So they build it with money they don't have and then eventually sell or lease it to a third party to manage, and pay royalties. It's like taking out a third or 4th mortgage.

In some cases they can't even come up with the money to build it in the first place so they sell the rights BEFORE the toll road is built.

It's all a scam for the politicians to spend money they shouldn't be spending, or pay part of the bill for money they already spent.

And here's the funny part, they pretend like it isn't a tax.
On some toll roads (like the 110) they even give Po' peoples free access, 'cause they loves that wealth re-distribution.
I can think of someone else who loved it too.
No, not groucho.

As long as I don't have to pay to build it I say sure, let private industry build it.
If it makes sense they'll do it.
If it doesn't, then it shouldn't be built in the first place.

my wife takes toll roads to work and comes home on the freeway so it only costs her $30 a week.
