Hole repair in giant inflatable yard toy

My brother bought a giant jumpy toy from a party rental place. It sits on a flat in the garage that has wheels on it. Part of it touched the floor and rubbed holes in it from friction when it was moved around. I want to repair the holes but only can find repair suggestions related to inflatable boats.

The fabric on the toy is impregnated with fibers but the exterior feels pretty much like vinyl. The suggestion I liked the best was to use the Oatey PVC cement for shower repair liners and cut up pieces of the shower liner as the repair material. Clean with acetone, apply glue and press on repair swatch and wait for the glue to set. I am assuming the shower liner repair film is flexible enough to deal with inflation/deflation but have not check the material out yet.

Any suggestions? Maybe just a vinyl swimming pool repair material would suffice?

Thanks.

The white label sewed into the unit is about two feet wide to give you perspective.

Have you checked with the party rental places to see what they use?

Try a marine supply store. I have some very sticky and durable dacron tape to repair my windsurfing sails when they get torn. It can be overlapped to repair larger holes.

The adhesive rubber bladders used to water proof the valleys on a new roof could work.

Excellent idea. Just found out about the project yesterday afternoon so have made no calls yet.

The repairs made previously were just on small holes and standard vinyl blow up toy repair kits were used. These rips have some girth so would rather bias the repair towards something like the roof bladder or tarp repair material. Suspect the sail repair tape would work well, given what it is engineered to do. It is clear also and would make for a faster fix.

Just need to get out and check the material tomorrow. If a decent thickness were available for the pool repair kits they would be clear or translucent so the patch would not be as obvious. I am more interested in a solid repair though vs. beauty. Kids won't care much. :-)

when I have to patch a pool liner I use the pool patch then use liquid vinyl to seal the edges so they don't peel up. you can find a small bottle of liquid vinyl in the walmart camping section

Sorry to bag you guys for so long before responding. I bought shower liner pvc stuff. Looks plenty thick and durable enough - probably thinner than the roof valley stuff and no more thick than the shower floor repair material.

I will use the special heavier duty hot tub oatey PVC glue and the liquid vinyl on the edges will be good insurance. I have to rustle me up some acetone for cleaning.

Cost was $6 for a linear foot so if this is the wrong stuff, I am not out much. Worst thing that happens is that it peels off or cracks and I start over.

Thanks for your help.

just talked to a friend that rents jumps out he said for a small hole he just glues a patch. for large holes he sews a patch on and then seals the edges

The pan liner material is durable, but the solvent cement will likely fail.

get a tube of Noble Seal from a tile supply house.
( don't get any on your hootus )
