I went swimming in the Dnieper near Kiev, just downstream from Chernobyl, around 1991. I think we could still see German tank turrets sticking out of the water.

Freshmen year of college

I took my private pilot check ride the following Monday. I was in full study mode

I had just finished a research paper on nuclear energy.

I found it a positive thing I did not have much on-the Russian program they were not talking freely.

I have spent allot of time reading about it since, pretty sad commentary.

Second semester of P-chem. We dropped everything for about a week to discuss what was happening at Chernobyl. Although no one would ever want to create the disaster, it made for interesting study as the situation unfolded.

I asked my wife on our first date the very day of the Challanger disaster, makes it real easy to remember,

Don't remember exactly. It was during my drunken, blacked-out years. I know I was in Russia, working on some sort of steam engine. I was asked to leave.

i never aced any statistics test. solid C student in that class. but you remember a test on that day?

i dont remember what i was doing that day. maybe begging my Dean to not kick me out of college or eating a burrito.
