Mrs Hugh R is the New School District Superintendent

I wrote about my wife's new job at a school district a while ago. Quick refresh.

She was the Purchasing Manager of a local elementary school district about a mile from our house for about 10 years. She went back to school (USC) to get her certificate as a Chief Business Official (CA equivalent to a CPA in a public school district); a one year program. She finished No.1 in her graduating class and landed a job as deputy Superintendent of Business for a local high school district.

In November, there was a general election to merge the K-9 and HS districts. The newly elected school board decided they don't like either the K-9 or the HS Superintendent for the newly merged position.

So at last night's board meeting they asked my wife to be the new Interim Superintendent, for up to a year ,while they decide the next step.

Education pays off, with this change her salary has gone up 300% in 18 months.

You're welcome, but realize her salary comes from tax revenue. So we are officially "takers" from the Great State of California.

Great - congrats to your wife! - you can retire 5 years earlier now - take hear health insurance and be driving the 911 up and down the PCH! Doesn't she work close to your "retirement" condo?

The best part is it efffectively triples her pension as well. Yeah, the Condo is a 15 minute drive from her work.

How can I say this without it sounding assholish? I'm certainly not trying to be so forgive me:

This is a wonderful achievement but, she's superintendant of a school district but not an educator? The business of school is education. Managing the money of a district is crucial as is knowing how to educate and having an idea of best practices.

Agreed the key word in my OP was "Interim". No she is not a teacher, but merging two school districts over the next year is primarily a business function. Different unions, redundant mainteanance staff (possibly), figuring out the best use of office space and office personnel, etc. She won't be considered for the permanent Superintendent position because she is not an educator, and she knows that.
