Motorcycle bike rant.....

What makes drivers think that they can turn left into to three lanes of traffic "anticipating" the passage of a bike? WTF? Stay in your LEFT HAND TURN lane until it is clear.

I almost hit one yesterday myself Sat, I was going over a bridge, signaled, looked, started to change lanes, then heard revving, and there it was, at 1st I felt bad, but I had check, and didn't see them, and after they were in front of me, I saw how come I didn't see em, there were crossing 3 lanes at a time diving for holes in traffic
And with it being overcast, this idiot, was wearing a grey sweat suit

Being new to driving in your country for the first time in several years, in my little black Nissan Sentra rentacar in the Prescott Arizona area I have managed to only pea off two drivers. I have not given the finger to anybody seeing that would not match a CCW driver. I can only say treat others on the road as you would have them treat u. It is easier on the blood pressure. Overall I am impressed with your drivers down here, about the same as back home.

Lots of seniors around here. I am one. Have patience and understanding my friend and then u will have the health and perseverance to be a senior yourself

It isn't the CCW driver you have to worry about, we understand better than most about showing our weapons, but the punks that are just looking for trouble.

I think I understand what u r saying. There are at any time punk drivers driving like idiots endangering their lives plus others. I was young once but never drove a motorcycle but the motorcyclist is way more vulnerable than the car driver.

As regards CCW, if I lived here I would definitely carry if it was legal. Hiking, camping would be more comfortable. However if I did carry there would be no intention of using it for the rest of my life in all likelihood. It is just the good feeling that I am not completely helpless. Driving in Arizona recently has been a pleasure. Young and old people I have met anywhere here are friendly and helpful.

I have put this thread sideways somewhat.

I'm sorry, I've read this sentence several times and still can't understand what the problem is.

Is the "driver" you're talking about a motorcyclist? We call them "riders". If it's a car driver you mean, how are they "anticipating" a bike?

Do you mean that a driver turned left into your path? I agree that's dangerous. But what has the motorcycle got to do with it...?

Curiously,

d.

OK....I'm going southbound. A driver going north is in the left turn lane. The driver decides that he wants to turn. A lowly bike rider is in his way and there are vehicles fast approaching...if he can get across he won't have to wait and maybe miss Final Jeopardy.

Normally the north bound driver would have to wait until the intersection is empty. However THIS driver decides to enter the intersection before I have cleared it and cross two lanes and anticipating that I will clear the way. Basically being the vertical line to my crossing the "T".

I have no way to know that this moron is going to stop or continue and cream my skinny butt. So....I lock up my brakes and this idiot gets irked because he was in a hurry and he now has traffic backed up due to him blocking the south bound flow of traffic.

The vehicle code dictates that you can not turn left in front of someone or enter an intersection until it is clear.

Does that help?

Yes, I think I get it. That kind of thing drives me nuts too.

Usually it happens here where a driver is wanting to cross a divided roadway... the first set of lanes (with traffic approaching from his left) are clear so he pulls out to wait for the traffic coming from the right to clear... but it doesn't clear right away and he ends up sitting there blocking traffic. Maddening.
