what reciever hitch bike rack do we like?

thinking i am needing one for my tacoma. i have a topper on mine, so a single mountain bike can get tossed inside..(not so healthy for your rear derailleur tune, tho)

road trip to the PNW this summer, and will probably need to fit two bikes. REI sale is now. hehe.

hmmm, maybe just borrow one.

Love the ease and versatility of our Swagman. Once you have it set for your bikes, it honestly take 5 seconds per bike to be on and secure.

Tip: Put a little extra padding on the hold down clamp to protect your paint on your bike. After a 2k mile road trip I noticed some rubbing. It did not get into the paint, but a little self adhesive padding just makes it better.

Borrow mine. I need it for 4th of July wk but you can use it anytime otherwise. Mine folds down and locksto the receiver. Thule is the brand And it holds 4 bikes by the frame.

Softride. With 4 bikes, it's sweet to pop the lever with your foot and drop it down. Heavy sucker though.

I use, and highly recommend, a Yakima Hold-up Two.

Yakima HoldUp Bike Hitch Rack at REI.com

I use mine to haul a 6"-travel mountain bike with 2.5" wide tires and road bikes with equal aplomb. It's so tough it totaled a Volvo that rear-ended me, with no significant damage to the rack. I've been very satisfied with it, but of course, YMMV. Good luck!

I have the Yakima four bike carrier, it dips down if you need to open the gate, has that attach to the down tube to keep the bike from swaying. You are also welcome to borrow it.

I have a BVG. It connects to a class 3 hitch. It holds bikes, skis, snowboards, etc. It is nice because it swings outside of the SUV to open the hatch easily. I have had it for about 10 years now and it still working well.

I too am a Yakima fan, both roof & receiver hitch, but I wouldn't mind this set up..

Yakima hold up, by far the best. BIL had one, went to a Thule, not even close in terms of construction. I took two and made it into one 4 place rack last summer, older style.

I have a friend with a rack from this company. It is the best looking and most over-engineered rack I have ever seen. It looks like aircraft aluminum with very nice workmanship and it is American made.
If I needed a new rack, I would buy from them.

I designed this one. It wasn't built as I truly wanted it to be. It was 100% sourced from what was in the companies line.

That's cool. I like the way the front wheel is locked down. I use a similar rack from Atera on my roof rack.
