Amazon rant
I finally realized (I think) how/why a third of my orders from Amazon seem to get lost in the shipping process. I purchased some items this past weekend as holiday gifts. I got an email today saying they were shipped out. Great. But to an incorrect address (with my office zip code--not my home zip code). Odd. During checkout I clicked on the saved address in my Amazon account's address book. My wife has since purchased 3 more items within the past two days, and they all have the correct address/zip listed. She clicked on the same box during the ordering process.
So somehow during order processing Amazon mixes up my addresses, and sends stuff to a combined address (street address doesn't match the city/state/zip) that doesn't exist.
So that's why it seems like a third of the packages I order from Amazon seem to bounce around via USPS/UPS for a couple weeks (tantilizingly close to home, but never quite reaching it) before bouncing back to the vendor. Then I have to go through the hassle of re-ordering the stuff.
Normally not a big deal, but it's certainly annoying during the holiday season when purchases are somewhat time sensitive.
