I think I've had busier Decembers at my pawnshop. Haven't had to liquidate any gold (yet) for operating capital.

Like Craigster, my shows pretty much wrap today. I may well take off until Monday, 1/7.

We have been buried up to our eye balls with motor work. It will be nice to be closed between Christmas and New Years for a much needed break. At least to catch up on some of the service work needing to be done on my truck and home. :D Not complaining. I am thankful to have a steady job. One of my friends just got laid off at SLAC. (Stanford Linear Accelerator)

Noah930 12-19-2012 05:31 PM

Up to my eyeballs. I see my kids on the weekends only.

mreid 12-19-2012 05:34 PM

Friday is my last day for two weeks. We shut down all of our manufacturing plants between Christmas and New Years.

Hope we can get together this time at CES. We are going to be there again this year.

We have been pretty busy this month, but January is booked solid. Pretty much all trade shows in Vegas...

Slow this week, then closed until 1/2. I'm watching the time tick slowly by....

I feel a little better about this incident. This summer, there was a pretty bad accident at the end of my road, where it meets the highway. When I heard the impact, I ran down to make sure everybody was o.k. What I found when I got there, was that customer that I lost my cool on, just flipping out on the person who hit him. Seems they were neighbors and have had an ongoing feud for years.
The police pretty much had to subdue the guy, and after he left, the local officer told me that he is a total nut job, and that he has to respond to monthly disturbance calls at this guys house for him harassing/fighting/ and threatening his neighbors.
I openly admit that I was a spaz that day, but sometimes, it takes two to tangle.

Slowed down for me too Fred - I have a small job next week and some irons in the fire but no urgency on those.

I welcome the slow down - I need time to work on my work-agenda for a change!

Crazy busy. Picked up a whole house remodel job last week. She just bought her retirement home. Both client and myself wanted to start the day after Christmas. My men had been working 6, sometime 7 days a week for the past few months. I just can't do that to them anymore. I bought them an over night deep sea fishing trip. They quit at noon today and drive out after that. They are off until the day after Christmas. Me, I keep on keeping on. Take some time off here and there and hang with the kids, like today. See a new client on Saturday afternoon, review stuff when possible. Sneak in a few bike rides when I can. Same old thing.

Not fun. I had about the stupidest truck driver I've ever had to deal with today...

Fortunately, the metal company had their act together and the loading and leaving went quickly.

It's been quite a buy year and I'm pleased it has stopped. Stopped as of an hour ago. When I wasn't working flat out I felt guilty that I wasn't going flat out at plumbing/electrical/building/plastering/painting/fitting up bathrooms/kitchen/floor sanding, did I mention painting. It's summer time around here so GF and I are talking our border terrier dog to chase rabbits around the south island for a few weeks and I'll have a go at catching a trout for dinner.

Noah930 12-20-2012 07:36 PM

F'n swamped.

Oh & I am 18% over forecast for the year. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

So what youre saying is that your quota next year will be 18% higher right? Normally i take off the last 2.5 weeks. This year im losing vaca because i accumulated too much and will only take 3-5 days off for the xmas holiday.

And yet here I am... :p

Great exhibit, btw. It will be awesome if the final result is realized.

Correct but . . . I take that as a base & make fuzzy math projections that increase it. That new figure is my 2013 baseline for quarterly bonuses. But since the year hasn't ended yet, it keeps moving up. 19.3% as of this morning - which is both good & bad.

It looks like my show is done. My only free night - at this point - is Monday - the night before the show even starts.

That said, a lot of dealers are not coming so it might be light. 30-117 (Focal) is our main display suite. Drop by if you hit the Venetian during the show.
