You guys busy?
It finally died today. I keep up a pretty hectic pace most of the year. One of the few times I can count on a week or two of peace is the holidays. I have a few larger projects to hammer on over the next few weeks, but other than that it should be fairly quiet for a while.
I noticed that the door quit swinging , and the phone quit ringing today a little after noon. I pulled a turbo 400 out of an old 4x4 dually today, that will get rebuilt and go back in next week some time, I have a 996 that will get a clutch/rear main/ int shaft bearing, and some little odds and ends, and I also have a 65 falcon that had a huge list of little things to finish up on, and I should be able to button it up by the first/second week of Jan. I also like to push the broom around the shop a little and red up some when I can. I know some of you have year end deadlines to meet, and I feel sorry for anybody in retail this time of year, but for mechanics, this is usually easy street. |
Most of our clients I think held their money till the end of the year. Now they have to spend it. I will only get next Tuesday off for a break.
Yeah, still busy. I suspect next week will be pretty quiet. Last year was more quiet by this date.
Negative ! I'm killing time on the Porsche boards.
Busy as all get-up. We're at 80% of our historic workload for the whole month of December.
Usually off from Friday thru 1/7, but helping to wrap out Mob Doctor which shot in Chicago and the trucks are due to arrive 12/26. Gotta make hay while the sun shines I guess.
Pretty much done for the year here.
Took the rest of this week off, but in January and February I'm scheduled to work 6 days/week and 12 hour shifts. For straight salary. Gotta love that.
No. In wholesale, I am done mid-December. I have my customers trained to skip me & go right to the order desk for the 'must haves.' I took my last flight of the year coming home on Saturday & the next will be going to the sand pit for CES Jan 5.
Oh & I am 18% over forecast for the year. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif Ian |
So get all that work done now that you don't want to stop when you get interruptions from "customers" banging on your closed/locked door! :)

Nice year, Ian.
I'm officially on vacation since yesterday. My accumulation had maxed out so I had to take them or lose them. USC shuts down between xmas and new years so by adding a few days on either end I'll have almost 3 weeks "off." In quotes because the reality is that if I don't keep up with email and projects it will be bad. I have a director's meeting tomorrow I have to go in for, then play a nursing home in the afternoon. Beyond that though, hopefully no day job nonsense through my transom until after the first of the year and I can just concentrate of recording projects. |
Busiest winter ever I don't think I'm taking Christmas off everybody wants to race

I looked at the Moon stuff - pretty cool (which is what you guys added iirc). I will be doing some mixing on the Focals during break.
I hear ya on the year over year stuff. In my case I got a promotion and salary bump this year. But that just means I have to bring in even more money to cover the salaries of me and my team. No free lunch... |
Another year end emergancy shipment tomorrow. About 10 tons of structural aluminum...
nope. dead. looking for work
I'll be working Christmas eve (day) and Christmas day...
Pretty much dead now, and I expect it to be until the New Year for me.
