My son had a Suzuki Samurai that he rolled over onto its side on two separate occasions in the winter when hitting the snowbank on the side of the road while spinning out. Both times doing less than 20MPH.

Around the time that the media was slamming the Suzuki Samurai, the facts turned out to show the Bronco II was the car with the most roll over accidents.

For a while, at least at the track, it seemed like BMWs were always rolling at events

I loved my Trooper, but I hardly blame the car when it isn't driven in the manner it was designed, like is it my Carreras fault or mine i f I try and drive across a muddy, rutted field & get stuck??

And your point is what exactly? I love my Trooper too. It doesnt handle well. It's a 20 year old truck that rattles and shakes. I'm not going to throw it around like a Carrera.

That is precisely the point, I bought my Trooper to tow my Race car, not to be a Race car, but I never felt unsafe driving it.

the real problem is an emergency maneuver - esp. one by a driver who is not experienced at high accelerations in either yaw or roll

Landcruiser?
A friend of mine, who at the time drove an 85 Carrera, swerved LandCruiser Trooper to avoid a joining car, got two wheels off at 60mph high speed and rolled, many times. Broke his arm, the only salvagable panel on that landcrusier was the glove box lid.

They are great offroaders, should stay there.

So which was it, a Land Cruiser or a Trooper?

The CJ Jeeps were awfully unstable, and had a habit of breaking a weak rear shackle to exacerbate the problem.

But Byron is correct, of all the SUVs tested in the late '80s, the Bronco II was the least stable.
