What do you dog lovers do....
with your large dogs in the summer time especially in hot areas like Phoenix, Texas etc ?
How do you exercise them in the hot summer days? |

out before dawn.. return & they jump in the pool... evening stroll , no heavy running .. back in the pool.. 2 days ago..30 deg.. walk..into the pool.. shake & run into the house.. Rika |

Late in the evening after it cools off, and not as much exercise as the spring and fall.

^^^ Just flipped thru a new book at the library...
Underwater Dogs by Seth Casteel Comical with outstanding photo's. Greatly miss our old lab of 14 years. She was like a kid everyday in the lake. Would bark like mad if we didn't take her in the boat.

Early morning and late evening walks. We have 2 English Bull dogs and they can't take high heat or long periods of exercise so the walks are not too far.

My Aussie chases my son on the ATV or his dirtbike at full speed and then stomps around in the creek to cool off 3 seasons a year.

I use a kiddy pool the Corgis love it, they walk around and drink and then play more ball.
In the summer I just have to change the water every day. |

We have a pair of Basenjis Basenji - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They are African/American dogs and love the heat. Their dog house has spray foam in the top, bottom , and sides along with a infrared heater.

i know someone that jogged with his dog in the heat.
it ended as bad as you could imagine. dogs dont know how to quit? or the heat just creeps up on them? i dont get it. i grew up in the desert. we had a malamute..that dog would find the coolest spot and camp out. we never pushed him in the heat. just so you know..malamutes and haircuts? oh, no. that is not good for anyone involved.
