Christmas bonus- getting one?

Use to get one, not any more. This year got a "holiday" card from our President indicating a contribution had been made to a hurricane Sandy relief fund, rather than individual bonuses. I am all for charity, but that was just in bad taste. Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where George contributes to the "human fund" on your behalf as a gift.

Anyone still getting a bonus?

While it is possible, it is not plausible. There's been talk of bonuses, but until I see it in the bank account, it's only a myth.

Nor will I be getting a raise despite the glowing review.

Addendum: we have had two "parties" for the holiday; on off-site, one on-site. Nothing provided for either, if you wanted to eat/drink you better bring along your wallet.

I skipped both.

Seems like the mantra is "be happy you have a job". Employers don't have to care anymore. If ya don't like it, you can leave, and be replaced with someone cheaper, probably from India.

My bonus is what I make of it. To a certain degree, I work on commission.

At the same time, there was no office X-mas party this year. And we're facing the choice (for employees) of cutting hours, cutting staff, or cutting wages.

Usually, but this year (for the first time) they're deferred until February. Our bonuses are tied to the company's 3-year running averabe profitability, so if we make better than 10% profit our bonus pool is about 50% bigger than if we make 10%.

Non union work place here, Christmas bonuses are basically the most significant cut of whatever profit the company may have made. Was given out for at Thanksgiving with an awesome BBQ cooked onsite by the owner. The early date lets people shop on Black Friday for Christmas gifts if they want to.

One year, after record profit, we didn't make a profit, you'd be amazed at the ungrateful looks from people that year, they should of realized they were lucky to even get a bonus. Most of those guys don't work here anymore.

Have not seen one in years. Between all the cuts in hours, wages and lack of raise in 2 two years I fall into the catagory of "just be glad you have a job"

My first year at the company so I don't get one (even though I've been here 11 months and 1 week as of today) but as a whole, employees get a little something.
