Sad. But not new to the area. Back when I was living in Paterson my buddy was an EMT as well as the ambulance driver. They were frequently fired on when in certain parts of town. Sad man really sad.

my friends live about 800 yards from the fires. i grew up on that street and in webster ny.

not sure what you mean by "area" but this is very unusual for this area (upstate NY)...i have lived on and off here for more than 30 years and havent seen anything like this

no. this is a very high end part of town...police are not saying what motive was but it was a trap set for first responders. the shooter is dead, likely he shot himself

I grew up in Webster and my Mom and Dad still live there. I live about 15 miles from there, and this is a safe area, so I can't even imagine this happening. Just another nut job who can't just kill himself, but feels he must go out in a "Blaze of glory"

We live in a sick world and its getting worse as time goes on. The reason for that is a subject for a different forum.

I think the mental illness and bad attitudes are increasing in this country more than the armed citizens are. It takes a truly sick person to set a fire trap and then shoot the responders........sad, just really sad !

Unfortunatly this is seen all over the world.
Some nutbag blows something up then waits for the first responders to arrive and sets off a secondary explosion to kill them.
