I'm certainly not arguing which is a better state, just the design of the flag. Ok, what am I not seeing in that Texas flag?

I am a California boy and even I like the Texas stat flag. Simple and elegant yet commanding.

The old georgia flag was better...

Louisiana does have the best unofficial state motto though..... laissez les bons temps rouler

No order top 5: AK, NM, TX, MD, SC
Hon Mention: TN, DC

Steve, can't believe you wouldn't say VA. A dead tyrant and an exposed nipple? Awesome.

Wyoming's is cool.

C'mon...gotta like Michigan's state flag.

A moose, an eagle, an elk, and......bigfoot (well, not really, but close enough)

Ok, so while we are on the topic, nothing pisses me off more than this.

And I have seen it numerous times in SoCal...what a slap in the face. EDIT <whoops, sorry if it's too PARFy for some of you>

Favorite in order
Alaska
Texas (lived here too)
Iowa (maybe only because I lived there from K-12 and saw it everyday)

Honorable Mention
SC
AZ
CA

I think most are too busy.

Flag etiquette...Do you think the illegals care?

BTW, I'll let the Texans here explain why theirs is the only state flag to be officially flown at the same height as old glory...

dw1 12-28-2012 06:44 PM

And there's the "unofficial" New Jersey state flag.

It prominently features flipping the (state) bird.....An important means of communication in the Garden State.

We fought under this one in The Battle of Gonzales, the first battle in the Texas Revolution. I like it, of course if I had to pick from the current, would still choose the Great State of Texas.

Virginia would be my 6th choice. I like the motto and the message and would certainly be proud to fly it.

There are some state flags that I just don't get. Really ugly.

Someday, I would like to get three flag poles in the garden with a spot light. I just can't figure where to put them on my property.

ANY state flag can be flown at the same height as the US flag as long as they are on different poles and the US flag gets the honored position.

Speaking as someone who has absolutely no dog in the fight, I think the Alabama flag looks silly - it looks like an error icon, or broken image link, or something. It looks like there was no thought or effort put it at all. The Texas flag just seems to look "right".

My fave has always been Maryland's. Has that medieval look to it.
