Dare you not to cry:

I got misty. Look at the photo and read the article, especially the end of it. And it's not sad, it's the most heart warming thing I've seen all week.

I am one of those strange folks that reacts worse to seeing violence against animals than against my fellow man.... Why is that?

I probably titled this wrong. It's actually a great story about military service dogs, it just got me a little choked-up. Dogs are such amazing creatures.

This is one of the great photos of 2012. The 86 y.o. guy in his Marine dress uniform, smiling from ear-to-ear with the dog in his lap. What a great story.

I'm sure there are many soldiers and LEO's that would break down in tears telling stories of the bravery and sacrifice that these beautiful animals have brought to their lives. Great stort Denis, thanks for sharing (and I teared up a bit too).

I have a patient, farmer. His job in WW 2 was to train war dogs. He is quite the interesting character.

Probably because your fellow man is not innocent like an animal is.
The human ego (defensive survival strategy) is a handicap until it is released - not many of us can continuously be in that state. Animals are not run/burdened by ego - instinct runs *their* lives.
.
BTW, me too (your statement). Not strange.
