I attended a lyceum program 100 yrs. ago at a local Jr. college (Ohlone in Fremont, CA) that featured an extremely fit and dapper Sterling Moss (and a young drop-dead foxy companion). Of course, post injury & retired for some years.
Amazingly enough, the attendance was less than 40 people. He spoke about his racing career, etc. The best part was after his official presentation, we gathered around him and asked whatever we wanted to know.
He was quite gracious, as I recall. I asked him what car he was presently driving, he said, "I'm driving an Opel GT around London because it is nimble enough, but mostly because it looks jolly good."

ps Interesting stories. Apparently most drivers wanted a gig with the powerful Mercedes company because whatever the drivers wanted MB had the money, the engineers, and the desire to deliver.

My college roommate owned an orange Opel GT. She was a terror w/that car.
I drove it and liked it, too. We girls would get lots of eyeball. ;)
