Ya gotta love it when a little guy wins one
A pool tournament..a guy's name drawn for a chance at a break n' run in 10 ball for $10,000. Strictly an amateur guy...but damned if he didn't do it! The tough breakout shot he made was the key. No pressure, right?

OMG, I got tired of watching him chalk up his cue 4-5 times for every ball, almost like a nervous tick.

10 ball is different than 9 ball in that if you make the game ball (10 ball) on the break, you have to spot it. Some tournamets are adopting that rule in 9 ball now.
I suspect that for this $10,000 thing, perhaps any ball made on the break would get spotted? Nervous tick with chalking? Hey, $10,000 was on the line here...I'm just amazed that he did it in 8 minutes. Like I said, this guy NOT a pro...just a joe blow local tournament player. Actually, chalking the cue while thinking the shot over is part of my pre shot routine now. Rapid fire players are fun to watch, but going too fast can lead to mistakes. I've learned to step back, study the entire table (especially important when playing 8 ball), make my decision, then step in and fire... The run in the video was done on a 7' Diamond brand "bar box". They are better tables than the usual Valley brand found in your average bar. A bit more difficult to play on, but still better materials used. 10 ball is now being played more because the pros, now top skilled players, have learned how to sink a ball (usually the one in the side) on a 9 ball break nearly every time. Well, that worked for a spell. Do a youtube search on Shane Van Boening...he's who I consider the top pro in the USA right now...and he has mastered the 10 ball break. One thing I love about pool is that the average joe CAN play with the top pros...it happens often. How many golfers here can say they've been on the same course when Tiger Woods is playing? My "honorary nephew" Matt is a BCA Grand Master ranked player...when we're together, it's heads up for me. Doesn't cost anything to pay attention, and he's taught me a lot.

10 ball
Great Shooting
In my neck of the woods it was common to spot the money ball if made on the break but that was considered a bet won by the breaker it made for more action. As for the ability to make the side balls on the break that was the advantage of having the break.
