Fyi for those who want to park in the Porsche paddock need to order your tickets ahead of time as they are only selling 200 passes.......
Just bought mine and will be there with my work truck (924s)..... Who else is coming?

I keep thinking about it. Too far to drive in my P-car though. Last time I didn't stay long enough. 15:00 after the race ended, I was on I-95N hauling ass.
I love the Vitamin D this time of the year.

When I would drive down from Ohio we would pull into Daytona Friday night, and be on the way home 1/2 after the race finished on Sunday........you could take the auto-train from NJ to Sanford FL which is about 30 minutes from Daytona....

Autotrain starts in Lorton, VA about 30 min from here. That's not a bad idea. Hmmm.

That sounds great but I'm looking and Amtrak's website only says Sanford & a place in Va. that does the auto train.

What? You now have to have a "special pass" to park in the Porsche paddock?
Screw 'em - you know there were PLENTY of years I didn't park in there anyway. Byron - please don't post that pic again....I think everyone has seen it by now. ![]() Getting back to the parking....I actually enjoyed driving around to different vantage points in my P-car anyway rather than parking in a reserved lot. Of course the good think about the paddock is they hired a security guard just for the paddock to keep an eye on things...but heck most attendees don't screw with your car anyway has been my experience.

There's far nicer cars there than mine to mess with. I don't think I'd want to trust my Targa to the auto train. I don't know if they'd want to deal with my track 944, but that would be fun. I'm not sure it has the ground clearance though.

The nice thing about the pad this year is I'll be able to leave and come back and NOT lose a place to park......
If I wanted to go get dinner Saturday evening I was walking or I'd lose my spot. 2 years ago my 924s was parked at the rattling and didn't move, still got way too crowded in there.....so I think its a good idea, well see if it works though......and it just means you have to buy your pass ahead of time......its only 105 for the full 4 days....

I took the Auto Train once. Never again. Very rough ride and shaky. Noisy. Could not sleep . I always had and now always will just drive myself.

It is an awesome race to go to. I went two years in a row a few years ago. Next year again for sure!

IMSA days were the best with the 935s, 962s, Jags, etc etc etc.
