If You Chose to, What Method to Do Yourself in?

A firm believer in it, but no concrete plan yet. No pain, please, is all I ask.
I've spoken to my cardiologist & he won't do it for me, but he & his buddies have an agreement.
Other than a .357 in the mouth, what are some plans/ideas?
.
ps Raised Catholic but when it comes to suffering or not for months on end, wringing my hands & cryin'...spittin' out my blood, I'm in the driver's seat.
Sorry God.
.
Have a good day. :D

IMO, It's not our job to make that decision.
Personally, I'd rather live in misery for a short period of time on this earth than risk spending eternity in a much worse sitch.

Carbon monoxide is painless, stress free, and doesn't leave a terrible mess for someone else to clean up.

scottmandue 01-30-2013 07:11 AM

No plans for pulling my own plug...

However have been through some dark days in my youth an thought about it...

And now that I'm on the backside of the big five oh and seeing what my parents and other relatives are going through in their 80's.

Not to be morbid but... not just no but heck no I don't want to go there! Weekly doctor visits, a couple operations a year, walkers, wheel chairs, a handful of pills three times a day... sorry, not going to happen :(

At that point I would rather go to the other side... and if I did make that choice (not making it at this time) I would go pills and booze, go to sleep and just not wake up.

On a positive note medical technology in getting better and a healthy lifestyle could push me into my 80's without pain and embarrassment.

On a side note: I am a Christian... and this is a whole different thread... but IMHO suicide does not disqualify you from going to heaven.

but it can kill those who find you if not done with some kind of warnings posted outside

That man that was killed by his girlfriends boobs seems like a good way.

+1 Dryer hose & a roll of duct tape, go park out in the desert and you're done.

Years ago when going after my EMT thingy I had to spend time in an ER and with paramedics.
Dead bodies leak. If they've been sitting there long enough they can make a really, really big mess. Most people could not handle that.
Death is a very ugly process. IMO It should not be considered painless or clean or easy or pretty.

Silver lining!!!!

Change mine to smothered by a hookers!

GH85Carrera 01-30-2013 07:24 AM

I have never really thought about killing myself. It is as far from my thoughts as a sex change operation.

If I knew I was doomed by Alzheimer's or some slow painful death I would much prefer to make the decision myself than leave it to someone else.

An friend of mine was dying from cancer. One of his very close friends was a large animal vet. He talked the vet into giving what he called an final option pill. He described it as a large green pill. It may well have been a big vitamin or harmless but it gave him great comfort knowing that he had a simple option. He said it looked at the pill every so often just to be sure it was still there.

When his wife called to tell me he had died she said he wanted me to know he did not use the big green pill. The cancer got him first. It was his ace in the hole he never needed to use.

Pills or carbon monoxide.

Of course, stealing your worst enemy's prized sports car, and driving it into a wall at 150mph has its charms as well......

Don Ro 01-30-2013 07:56 AM

What about this? Sounds like playing hell w/your nasal passages, though. See, I want it to be painless.
I need to befriend a vet & do it their way. I held both of my dogs as they went down - peaceful, it seemed.

"An up and coming method is chemical suicide in autos. I just gave a haz-mat class on it. It is a big concern to first responders.
A mixture of common household chemicals in a bucket, within a few minutes you have hydrogen sulfide gas, and death in a few minutes after that. The method apparently originated in Japan."

A930Rocket 01-30-2013 07:57 AM

A gun is probably more "manly", but pills or a gas would be my choice I guess. What kind and where I'd get it from, I have no idea (other than the car exhasut).

This is not as easy as it sounds. A new 911 is so clean for example that it will not create enough emissions to kill you. My good friends neighbour tried to do this in Zurich recently in his 911 and ran out of gas after a few hours. He was sound asleep, but not dead when found. So be sure to do this in your beater!

Pills or a pistol for me. I also cannot imagine a slow grinding death in a hospital, and would much prefer to take things in my own hands.

Don Ro 01-30-2013 08:01 AM

I got a call from a buddy's son a few yrs. ago - we met in Viet Nam...he was a sniper.
He ended his battle w/terminal cancer with his pistol barrel in his mouth.
Gene was a gutsy stud. Not me - I'm too chicken for that.

Yes it does. Unfortunately, near family experience.

To the OP question: If I had to go, I would like to be screwed to death. SmileWavy

vash 01-30-2013 08:14 AM

i would try on one of those wingsuits and step off some windy ridge in the Alps.

i either die trying something new and exciting..or succeed and feel a renewed vigor to life. win-win!

Mo_Gearhead 01-30-2013 08:21 AM

Take the boat out late at night.
Tie concrete block around an ankle.
Leave boat in gear - idle speed.
As I pass over the deepest part of the lake, I will stand on the side and along with the block - take my final swim.
Boat idles on, eventually grounds itself.
I hope they never recover me.

My son, who is an EMT/Paramedic has some stories to tell about messy deaths, suicide and otherwise, as well as late discovery.

So for me, no firearms, but something else (meds?) in such a way and place so as to minimize the mess, along with some sort of preplanned notification. Wouldn't want EMT or family dealing with rot!
