Do you think the east coast will have a hurricane too?

Gaze into your crystal ball and enlighten us all!

Nomination for thread of the year!

But using PBR in the same sentence as "hip" is just not right. :)

Tell me about it! All those great brewpubs and they are quaffing PBR!?!

I guess it is their way of going against the Staus Que... but seriously

Sad thing is that yes we're due.

Second sad thing is that after each big quke that we've had the construction boom helped out the local economy.

Every earthquake was like a meal ticket for my dad (architect/builder) He'd take off in his truck and come back days later with a bunch of new contracts.

Listen, I'm neither a hipster, nor a beer drinker but PBR is a big seller to the hipster crowd. I'm just relaying the news. And it's bad news!SmileWavy

We used to have mag 6 quakes so often that one now wouldn't even get my attention. The faults that are worrisome are the Hayward Fault, because the population/geology/damage potential/access issues. They can easily get a 6.5 or higher that could be pretty bad.

Another fault zone that has been singled out is the San Andreas near Parkfield, which could easily produce a 7.0 or larger that would flatten pretty much everything Fresno to Paso Robles.

I think PBR is the only beer I ever bought in a six pack and poured down the drain 5-3/4 cans.

There is a whole science to earthquakes that a lot of people ignore or are ignorant of.

First is the type of faults and how they act... for instance Cali is NOT sliding into the ocean...we are sliding sideways... so someday Los Angeles will be neighbors with San Fransisco.

Second is geological time is measured in thousand and millions of years... so not having an earthquake in a few decades means nothing.

I am not a geologist but I slept in the dumpster of a holiday Inn once.

And an asteroid is going to wipe out all life on earth in... ten... nine... eight...

I've drank worse. I prefer not to. And I cannot imagine being called "hip" drinking PBR.

Nah, gotta disagree here. I like most beers, particularly Belgians and ambers, but after a long day on the salt water chasing salmon my buddy and I would stop at the Goldfish Tavern @ Point Defiance and pour down a couple of ice cold draught PBRs to wash away the salt. Easy on the palate, ice cold, and refreshing. The 'Fish' is closed now but those are good memories.
As far as PBR in cans, well, that's what Clamato is for. Red beers for breakfast after digging razor clams is the trick.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

I thought PBR was for people that couldn't afford real beer? Further proof that I'm not hip.....

Seem to remember drinking a lot of PBR while wearing an Army uniform... course that was prolly all we could afford back then!

tabs 02-01-2013 03:36 PM

In the past month the Hayward fault zone moved off shore at 6 plus, Chile moved and now offshore Alaska...now Alaska was the missing piece from the model of my last round of predictions...so now it has happened..next should be Cali...One month..two, three...six I really can't tell...but soon I should think.

I really am not investing any time or effort into this line of thinking...I am only mentioning this because of the quake in Alaska meeting a previous criteria.

I drank a lot of Milwaukee's Best Light back in the day too. The Beast was cheap, but damn did you regret it the next day!

fastfredracing 02-01-2013 04:10 PM

I think we used to get cases of the beast for $6.00 . It would come with a rebate coupon for $1.50 off your next case. I used to smuggle it in our dorm room in my guitar case. I do remember that it was not kind to your innards.

onewhippedpuppy 02-01-2013 04:43 PM

In the mid '90s I think it was around $9 for a 30 pack. Lots of drunkenness for under $10.

The beast was $2.35 a 12 pack back when I was in college. That was the good stuff. Carling Black label light was $.99 per 6 pack...Cheaper than coke

red-beard 02-01-2013 06:38 PM

Oh, and later in college, 15 gallon kegs of Busch Beer, $20. That is equal to about 6 cases of beer...
