Why are so many young people disrespectful?

This one pays the price and probably doesn't even know why?

poor parenting.

ckelly78z 02-05-2013 05:11 PM

Probably never worked a day in her life, and only evre broke a sweat at the "clubs".

fanaudical 02-05-2013 05:14 PM

I spend a fair amount of time working with youth where I live. From what I see, they are generally emulating behavior they see in television, movies, and their homes. I witness a lot of parents and other "adult leaders" treating youth in a disrespectful fashion. You get what you give.

It's sad that so many of our young adults think the world revolves around them.

The thing is that her parents will pay now... Likely they will pay for bail, etc. Obviously they raised a Princess, good luck!

HardDrive 02-05-2013 05:43 PM

I send my child to a private Catholic school. The kids are polite and respectful.

Superman 02-05-2013 05:48 PM

Because they are being raised by television and internet.

BE911SC 02-05-2013 05:54 PM

Not a new phenomenon either.

HardDrive 02-05-2013 05:56 PM

It seemed like that girl was on drugs.

Tervuren 02-05-2013 06:05 PM

She seems to think being "cute" can get her whatever she wants. She finally ran into some one that had a backbone. Not all girls/youth are like that.

As to answering why, that belongs in PARF as it touches need for both political and religious change, removing government control in raising kids, and returning that responsibility to parents.

And that is the possible future of our country.

rusnak 02-05-2013 06:21 PM

Kids are disrespectful because their hippie generation, counter-culture parents didn't teach them to put others before themselves.

MRM 02-05-2013 06:22 PM

It is the nature of youth to be disrespecful to their elders. There's nothing here that wasn't done 40 years ago, and certainly nothing that wasn't done 140 years ago. Doesn't mean she doesn't deserve a big can of whoop @ss coming her way. though.

red-beard 02-05-2013 06:26 PM

140 years ago, a can of whoop ass would have been opened up on her. Eventually, she would learn to be respectful.

Yes and yes. My kids also go to a Catholic school where students are taught morality, respect, and manners. Teachers are still in charge, and the school still has the power to throw your ass out if you can't follow the rules. At most public schools the inmates are now running the asylum, and the parents are the biggest part of the problem.

LakeCleElum 02-05-2013 06:37 PM

Probably comes from 2 or 3 generations of "No one can tell me what to do".........Agree with the "Parenting" comments.

SteamWolf 02-05-2013 06:39 PM

catholic schools here seem to include being molested by priests in the studies. Hope it's better there.
