The Perfect Storm

You folks in the Northeast should start getting prepped for possibly the worst storm in sometime.Better safe than sorry.

CNN's Chad Meyers just stated it could be the worst storm he has ever seen in his 26 years of reporting weather on TV

Looking at the weather models and how close the isobars are together along with the size of it reminds me of the movie The Perfect Storm.

Be safe everyone.

Somehow, I tend to think it's all bluster. Hide the women and children and call FEMA for those trailers. Don't mean to downplay it but the media goes overboard on these things, everything is exaggerated. I do hope everyone is safe.

Living where I live we are always ready for extended power outages, downed trees, etc. This was last fall during the storm damage from the hurricane. Fortunately, just a glancing blow. Although some areas of northern VT and NY are still recovering. Main problem was flooding.

Have you noticed in the last ten years every weather event is elevated to natural disaster levels by the media?

I know what you mean about the media. We get 1/4" of rain and we / the media go into storm watch mode.

Must be the lighting. it's not purple but dark brown. Hell the APA wouldn't let me paint it purple even if I wanted.

After the nonsense that just went down with the Italian earthquake scientist I imagine if anything is remotely close to dangerous the entire scientific community will play it safe and call everything a major disaster.

The brown's nice too, but maybe you should consider purple next time you need to paint or stain!

Thanks, it's comfortable. If the storm doesn't blow it down its staying brown.

Let's rank them...
1). Lawyers
2). Marketing
3). Media

To the storm, I hope it is all bluster. Just another excuse to raise gas prices, electric rates, etc. Oh and to gouge folks on generators.
But... We haven't had a really good natural disaster this year.

I'm taking it seriously.

Hurricane Irene turned out to be less severe than the media hype, but even so dumped enough rain to cause flooding and I had 6" of water in the ground floor of my Jersey City rowhouse. No living space on the ground floor, but I do have some nice garage facilities where I keep tools, P-car, etc.

I'll be spending part of my weekend erecting sandbag dykes to try to keep water out of my garage and workshop space. Will be moving the cars to a high and dry location.
