I flew into and gave static displays in over 30 air shows...all over the country.
I did a few demos as well. You get bored, you chat, you make things up...it happens. I once told a young scholar that the MAD bird on my helo was a missile. He scoffed, said it was connected to a cable (which it is). That's right, Lad, that's so if we shoot it and miss we can reel it back and shoot it again. Stunned mullet's across the board. Nuke powered helos? You bet.

snicker-snicker...all though the "interview". Sounded too much like a guy I used to know BSing members of a certain "gruppe"....

Reminds me of when I used to tow the racecar on an open trailer.
Inevitably at and gas-station shop some guy would wander over and ask "How fast does it go?" Initially I would respond with "Well that's really defined by gearing, not sure what the top speed is, but the cornering speed is really what matters... blah blah blah..." and all I'd get is this blank stare or an "Uhhh huh" So then I just started making stuff up. "Oh, 170". Not impressed. "180MPH". Cool "220, 221, whatever it takes" ...now the disbelief begun.
