Mindy McCready shot dog before apparent suicide, authorities say | Fox News

Authorities say they found country singer Mindy McCready's body on the same porch of her northern Arkansas home where her boyfriend was found dead of an apparent suicide last month.

Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss said Monday that it appears McCready killed her late boyfriend David Wilson's dog before she turned the gun on herself Sunday. The dog and McCready were found dead next to one another the home in Heber Springs, a vacation community about 65 miles north of Little Rock. Moss says the dog's body was next to McCready's.

Obviously she had some mental illness and could not cope given her loss. I say give her a break guys.

She has had a lot of tragedy in her life, inc her latest boyfriend killing himself at the same spot she picked at her house a couple months ago. The dog deal in reprehensible. I can only imagine how deep in despair she was

Not mental illness. Her life just had some ups and downs....due to her drug abuse.

Feel free to "give her a break" - my cause is for those little ones who cannot defend themselves.......

Tragic story, I also have no idea who this lady was. But it seems she had a tragic run.....Sad sad ending. BTW SHE PROBABLY KILLED THE DOG SO AS IT WOULD NOT STARVE TO DEATH OR WANDER OFF AND GET KILLED INHUMANLY...... think about it, might have been the last NICE thing she could think of doing.

RIP... sorry to see another life gone with such tragedy.

I love my dogs, but they don't equal the same value as a human life, If somebody told me to shoot both my dogs or they would shoot you.....bang bang both my dogs are gone to save the life of a stranger.....call me crazy!!!! BTW...The beagle is doing quite well on her new food and increased kennel time!!!!

Hey Mike - glad to hear the Beagle is doing better.

She didn't shoot the dog to help it - trust me on that one.

You know I have never been disappointed by a dog. I wish I could say the same about humans.

And please..........you have my permission to shoot me instead of my dogs.

I personally do not think she looked at the dog with crazy in her eyes to shoot the pooch just for fun. His master off'd him self and like her, I'd bet the dog was lost too. Her kids were taken from her (obviously for good reason) and her love was gone and she could'nt hack it.

I am not applauding her. Just feel bad for her, the dog and those two kids.

I think when people reach such a state of despair that they choose to end their life, their only hope (in their mind) is that there is some type of "afterlife" to look forward to. Perhaps she thought the dog would be there for her and her boyfriend to reunite with in the next level.

I'm not one to judge, suicide touched my family (my Mother) and it's a selfish act, borne of desperation, not of rational thought. This one gets a pass, unfortunately not a "do over".
