427 Corvette Left in a garage!

This is not Porsche related however if you are a car enthusiast you might like this article. An old Marine left the vehicle.1967 CORVETTE – JW I think Bloomington Gold confirmed the mileage.

Great car, great story, really annoying ALLCAP story to read. I wonder if the new owner would consider trading for a nice Porsche.

That's a great story, except for: It was in a "climate controlled garage", no, it was in a gargae attached to a house. The only part of climate controlled was what the temp outside the garage was. Also, the owner had aftermarket valve covers installed. Seems strange he would put these on since he did not drive the car much. Then, why put a Shelby snake sticker on the glove box?, or the other (to a corvette owner) strange bling on the air cleaner. Alas, it's a great story and worth a read. I love to see cars that are like this, tucked away for a long time and brought out today.

I kind of had the same thought. To each his own. My brother was a Vietnam vet however when he came home he did not save his vehicle he drove it to all most death. That car was a 68 hemi roadrunner Midnight blue. He sold it. Who knew it would be worth a ton of money.

Yup. The Shelby snake was the biggest WTF for me. If the guy was so anal, why tack an emblem associated with Ford onto his glove box? Cool story though the website is simply horrendous and really doesn't help sell me, but I hope it is legit.

The biggest shame is that anyone who buys it cannot drive it, as they will destroy their investment.

That is true. It is possible that all that covering saved that vehicle.

I think Bloomington Gold confirmed the mileage. I am always skeptical about these stories too.

I have no idea who that is, but unless they for some reason totally disassembled the car and put it back together with older bolts, older parts, etc...it looks like a lot of the parts have been used a lot more than 3,000 miles. And it's not normal to change that many parts in only 3,000 miles.

They are a Corvette documentation company. Look them up. I also see a lot of funny things on the vett that might make me think this is not on the level however i see alot of thinks that are very clean. Why would any body want to change the air filter housing and covers? apparently this individual was quit eccentric.

I don't care if they're Yukon Gold, that car has been worked over. Let's say it really has been driven less than 3,000 miles. The car is still a gem, but the weird stuff puts an asterisk next to the mileage statement.

It seems to be legit and the weird stuff, (Shelby snake and A/C bling), actually fits with the weirdness or eccentricity of a guy who would buy a new Vette with every penny he had and then proceed to entomb it for some lucky collector after he's dead.

Very strange story. I can only imagine what that went for.

I know of a garage in the Midwest that has several low milage cars in it. One is a 78 Corvette Pace car with 9 miles on it. It sat for so long that all the seals have dried out on it. The trans was empty along with the diff. If you buy something like this you would have to reseal the whole car before you can ever drive it.
