If you sent an item to someone on this board

And he hasn't paid you in a month how long would you wait to mention his name ?

Your post might do the trick!

ossiblue 02-24-2013 06:26 AM

Has there been communication between you two over that month? If not, why and if so, what information was exchanged?

Just from me saying to pay or return.

Rick V 02-24-2013 06:37 AM

I had that issue with a head I sold to a guy in Fla. a few years ago. I contacted a mod, who leaned on him a little and I got my money. I should mention I was not the first one with this issue regarding this fellow

Is he responding to you? If not..."gloves off" and post who it is imo. "Life" sometimes gets in the way...but this is unacceptable for this forum . Good luck!

tevake 02-24-2013 06:43 AM

So what is the story from the other end? Non-response, stringing you along?
Not good. I'd give a little time for some response to this post then lay it out here.
There is too much history of trust and doing right by each other to act that way here.

Cheers Richard

recycled sixtie 02-24-2013 06:43 AM

What was the agreed time period for payment? If you supplied the goods and he did not pay then he is in default. Definitely publish his name. :) But the problem is with some people it does not faze them at all....
You mean we have scuzzy people on PP forum? Surprise!:)

Rick Lee 02-24-2013 07:02 AM

We need a personal feedback forum so others check this stuff out before doing business with someone they don't know. Some of the real crazies here have turned out to be a pleasure to do business with. But the shady folks, whether they're nice or not, need to be outed.

In today's internet world of constant connectivity, a week borders on too long.

A month?! Barring something unusual like sudden illness requiring hospitalization, that guy has no intent on meeting his end of the bargain.

This... No excuses. Time to cough up the cash!

Baz 02-24-2013 07:24 AM

You could send a draft of what you would post here first as "fair warning" to anti-up or else.

It's his call.

I have little patience for welchers.

"Hello again Dick, With regard to the amount owned for that flux capacitor, please PP funds to me by tonight or I will publish your name and the details of your irresponsibility to the Pelican community. This is FAIR WARNING! Sincerely, Big Jim" :)

dipso 02-24-2013 07:28 AM

I had a guy not pay me once. I just posted in his 'visitor messages' and figured in the future if someone else was researching him, they would contact me. One person did and I told them not to sell to him, he doesn't pay.
Pelican Parts Technical BBS - View Profile: philec71

The 'buyer' has stopped frequenting the board and I figure he just joined to scam a few folks and then leave. I was one of the scammed.

If the 'buyer' is a regular poster, I figure you will get paid. If the 'buyer' is new, like mine was, good luck.

cstreit 02-24-2013 07:30 AM

Hey Ill admit it, it was me...

...but what you sent me was well wishes and happy thought. Now youre trying to extort payment for them? The nerve. :D

Great idea Dipso. I guess a user cannot delete messages like that, eh?

Dude...all ya gotta do is return those "well wishes and happy thoughts" back to Jim (unused) or simply pay the man...welcher! ...get real :D

Jim...has the "guy" been posting here during this period you've been contacting him? That would tell me a lot as to whether "life" has gotten in his way or he's just another form of lowlife. Karma...

onewhippedpuppy 02-24-2013 08:35 AM

A week with no communication tops, unless it was someone that I had confidence in. I've never had an issue buying or selling here, but I always require payment up front and only buy from regular posters.

I can confirm that.

Gotta be careful on the net. Even P-car forums. Not everybody in the for sale sections is an enthusiast.

Jim,

If I am the one you are talking about, something about work getting in the way has a lot to do with it. Being away from home while out flying makes it a bit difficult to keep up with things.

If you take PP can send you the funds now, otherwise if you want a check (remember you saying no hurry) will get to it when I return home!

People who live and work at home do not realize what its like living out of a hotel on the road, then getting home for a day or two and returning to the grind again, gone for another two weeks...

Joe A

LakeCleElum 02-24-2013 09:35 AM

Why would you ship w/o payment?

If it is Joe, he's good for it.....He travels a lot.....

Noah930 02-24-2013 09:58 AM

If it's a guy like JoeA, I wouldn't be as concerned. Because he's good for it. And because he's a friendly enough guy that many of us have his phone number or otherwise know how to get in touch with him easily.

Evans, Marv 02-24-2013 10:09 AM

I had a small item for sale about a year or so ago. I don't do Paypal & if I sell something I just ask for a money order or cashier's check & send the item. A guy on here who doesn't post - that I've seen - asked to buy it. I told him I'd send it when I received payment. Never received payment & emailed him several times. He always claimed to have sent payment & then that his wife had sent it. I guess he was waiting for me to be trusting & send it so he could claim to have sent payment & be on his merry way. Of course if I put anything up for sale again, I'll keep an eye out for his name.

You can from the advanced section. You're really at the mercy of the other party. Hoping they will either send payment or product.
The guy I was dealing with lived in Newfoundland.

Baz 02-24-2013 10:13 AM

Maybe there should be some interest added on so the late payer doesn't feel so 'guilty'.

Win-win.

Jim Bremner 02-24-2013 10:23 AM

Person has made a contact and I belive it's been resolved

onewhippedpuppy 02-24-2013 11:02 AM

Somebody like Joe is where I would make an exception. The long time forum regulars deserve some extra slack in my opinion, it's the newcomers with only a few posts that are worthy of a little caution.

Told the person that I would take 1911 magazines, 45acp ammo 12 ga slugs or ammo for M1 Garands in lew of cash. Let's see!

Ammo will ship to my warehouse where it's out of the Orange County ban

I'm going to miss having my warehouse after I close it down next month! Anyone need any Boltless shelving or a 1940's forklift?

fastfredracing 02-24-2013 11:19 AM

I'd love to have an old forklift, but I think logistics will kill that deal .
Pelican self regulates.

$500 forklift $1500 frieght!

rusnak 02-24-2013 12:07 PM

what, wait a second.....1940s forklift? Is it based on a truck or a tractor?

Hell, I'll take it if so. I would even pay in advance and pay you for storing it till I can come get it.

Recent seals in the upright and the brakes now work!

Power steering? auto trans? HELL no!

will take a M1 Garand or M1 carbine in trade ( yes I know I'll need to add to that)

rusnak 02-24-2013 12:33 PM

aww man...it's a warehouse only forklift due to the tires. I can't use it but I like it. It looks like a Clark. It has the same instrument cluster that mine has.

you mean that yours has a busted hour gauge, a sunbaked gauge that you don't know what it does and a starter button that the rubber has craked off of too?

rusnak 02-24-2013 01:03 PM

Ha! No, it has a working light switch that I fixed so I can run new lights, and a custom made (ahem) horn button that I am really happy with. I also changed the ignition switch. Gotta love forklifts...

Jim Bremner 02-24-2013 01:20 PM

Lights? Horn? WTH!

rusnak 02-24-2013 01:23 PM

hahahaha!!! I had to, what can I say? I bought it for the pumpkin patch and Christmas tree lot that I do every year. Wish I took a pic of it.

Chocaholic 02-24-2013 01:32 PM

Can send payment thru paypal via your smart-phone from the road. Do it all the time. Just sayin'.
