Learn me about NGK sparkplugs...

Why do some NGK sparkplugs (for smaller motors) cost twice as much. I run NGK plugs in everything I own (cars, boat, m/c, small motors) ...have for decades. Why is it that most of my small engine stuff uses BPM8Y which cost about $22 for a box of ten, yet my Stihl chainsaws use BPMR7A which run $45 per box...I think the R designates "Resistor"...what's the difference, and why twice as much?

I've noticed a lot of variation in markup on plugs.
Play around with your search terms on google and amazon and you should be able to better.
I see the BPMR7A at some autoplicity place for $1.39. (edit: ok, their shipping prices blow)

Too late ...I purchased two boxes of each from NAPA earlier. I was already at the counter so I just said "go ahead"...in hindsight, I should have just purchased the two I needed for today and looked online...live and learn

OK, the plugs I purchased are going back . Checked out a NGK wholesale site and can get free shipping for even more plugs than I purchased with 6 911 plugs thrown in for $50 total (1.76 each) Nuthin' but "mark up" ('cause they can)...thanks for getting me back on track!

Depends on what you get too. The Miata specs iridium plugs that apparently have insulators made from billet unicorn horn.

I went with the V power NGK for about 30% as much. Turns out to be the same plugs I ran in my Integra.
