Care to elaborate fint?

spit the hook!

Skewed priorities. Children are slaughtered on the streets of Chicago...and many other places around the world. Nothing is being done, our borders are porous and no one seems to care, sequestration is days away...and no big deal... but people root for a boatload of nuts who are willing to risk murdering a ship full of fishermen to save a whale from becoming sushi.

Gunfire and killings in a town that has gun control.....gosh, that law is working out well and in the town where organized crime pretty much started due to another ban that worked well. What was it? Oh yeah, Prohibition.

If the potheads weren't so lazy and making so much money pot woulda been legal years ago.

As to the killing of Japanese whalers? The issue of my original post was not so much the whaling but that two groups were dukeing it out in an area that is controlled by a third party that doesn't look to give a crap.....at no time has there been any mention of "killing of any humans".....

The disclosed facts are that it IS a preserve, it is IN Australian waters, they ARE refueling using bunker oil (which is nasty stuff), etc....

The minor issues are the whalers have "permits" to hunt the Northern Minke....they are whaling in the Antarctic, who issued the "permit" and what happened to their GPS?

Wars HAVE been fought over fishing rights and the incursion of armed naval vessels inside another country's territorial waters. That is my WTF question.

JB
While I agree with most of your post...I do find it amusing how much interest this issue has garnered here (three threads) and how much support the pirates have received considering how risky their actions are (from guys that often whine about hurt feelings "send it to PARF" if you post anything remotely controversial).

IMHO, if the Japanese are violating Australian waters/laws...it is up for the Aussies to determine that and react, not a bunch of self-styled "pirates" endangering human life with dangerous and risky behavior.

Joe Bob 02-28-2013 07:11 AM

That's my point.

When did the Aussie Navy lose their balls?

fintstone 02-28-2013 07:53 AM

I don't know...maybe the info we are receiving is inaccurate. Otherwise, it appears that they enforce their waters the way we enforce our borders.

Yer one great big "liberal buzz"-kill, that's what you are! :D

except it's not that simple

the Japanese are violating Australian Antartic seas they aren't allowed to whale there, they do it anyway. And they violate other things, like refueling in a nature reserve and so on..

fintstone 02-28-2013 08:58 AM

Perhaps it is because Australian sovereignty of the "Australian Antarctic" is only recognized by four countries (UK, France, NZ, and Norway)...and Japan is not one of them.

Joe Bob 02-28-2013 09:00 AM

Sovereignty is like having a big dick.....every once in a while ya gots to whup it out...

This is making me hungry..................

A nice whale steak would taste good right about now! Nothing like a nice 400 lb whale filet! Time to do a little web search to find some whale meat! Yummm. Or, of course, we could just "chew the fat".

How do you eat a whale?

One bite at a time!
