Computer delay driving me crazy, Help!

About 2 weeks ago I did a Windows update and since that time I have a 3-5 second delay whenever I click open a new window or take some other action. So what happens is say I want to click open a link. I click on it and then it takes 3-5 seconds before anything happens. Then when the window opens it takes 3-5 seconds before the new window is actually "live." Tried googling for an answer, but no luck. Any suggestions? I'm running Windows Vista. Yes I know it sucks, but no problems with it before now.

Check for a virus or malware.
Clear out your temp folders.
Go into Task Manager:
- see if you have any install programs hanging around
- check for unusual processes taking a large amount of memory
- see what percentage of resources are being used.

If you go to Control Panel, arrange it by date of action the uninstall/install items. Anything odd, dump. If it is just the update, dump it......reload and look for it.

Just did a cleanup on my brothers, kids and momz.....amazing what crap was on there.
