Ink Masters

I know there aren't many folks here that like tattoos but this season of Ink Masters has a local guy on it, (starts this Tuesday Oct. 9th on Spike). His name is Steve Tefft. I have three of his pieces.
Here is his bio from the show. Oh and for you rock-n-rollers Dave Navarro is the host.

Interesting show. While I have no tattoos, I appreciate the art and skill.

Good post David. That is the point. Most folks not appreciate skin as canvas.
Steve not only made it through the first two challenges but his first work was two of the best out of 16 in the first episode.

I'm a bit inked. I think that many people have no idea how insanely talented some of the artists in the tattoo industry are.

I didn't think I would be into this show at all, but I caught a few episodes in a row a while back and just kept on watching. Takes some brave folk to get tatted by artists who openly admit "this isn't my specialty".

That MMA fighter's dragon was terrible, as was that guy's portrait of his grandmother on his thigh.

That Sarah girl is from around here---although she cries more than Dick Vermeil at a screening of "Old Yeller"

I'm with you on the brave folks for sure. I have Steve's work dating back 15 years. In fact the first one was on a Saturday the day after St. Patty's day. I'm a brave soul!! He was actually having phone sex with his girlfriend while he was working, looks up and say, "You mind?" I said not at all just don't F it up!

I thought the last guy to get knocked off would actually win. I think he was Steve's biggest competition. But yeah the portrait sucked.

I knew Sarah was from Pittsburgh although talented, great wolf portrait, she is a bit of a loon. Next week will be cool.

I'm not sure "brave" is the word I would use for these people.

I'm not anti tat, I have seen some very nice ones, even kicked around the idea of getting one, but not something I would take so lightly as to let someone experiment on me.

Watching the show now and Steve looks to be the most skilled artist in the finale.

Steve nailed the final. The detail in his last piece was amazing. He will have business lined up for years to come after this.

As annoying as Sarah was throughout the series, she did some nice work. She was a far second in my mind. It wasn't a difficult decision.

Yeah he did Tim. He did the largest piece and the most detailed. I myself like blackwork, color not so much. And yes Sarah was 2nd best although Jesse was a threat also until his portrait a few weeks ago.
Looking forward to March.

My first tat back in the 80' was $45. Same one now is about 300. Prices from well known artists are unreal.

Steve is now getting $200.00 an hour with a 3 hour minimum. I still get his pre-famous rate

From the Ink Master himself...

Got it Tuesday. It's not done yet, an angel is also going above on my shoulder. The lance head was already done by Steve a few years ago.
