I'm self employed. Professional sealant specialist. Caulker. I bid jobs on linear ft. 1.60 per ft. Or an hourly basis 45 and hour. Plus they pay me to travel to job. Color sample and look at the job. Everybody hates caulking so plenty of work is availiable. It's not just sinks and bathtubs as everybody thinks. If i have to use a Bozeman chair price goes up. I even factor in rental costs. Right now we are doing hinkle fieldhouse where the butler bulldogs play.

Look at the incomes in the area. Some of the trades people make more, but this is what I have been paying. I did see my mechanic raised his rate to $60/ hour.

Good to have feedback on rates. Thanks again everyone!
Obviously many different scenarios which factor into how and why a business should charge what they do. Mostly relating to overhead. But ultimately as a business owner, one has to keep their rates as high as possible within' the scope of their industry. Most of the time I do not charge by the hour but by the job because I use so many materials, an hourly rate just doesn't make sense. But there are times when most of work consists of pure labor, such as servicing an irrigation system...aka service work. That's when an hourly rate makes sense and makes it easier to conduct business. I'm not bashful about quoting and have always subscribed to the theory I'd rather have a reputation of someone who does quality work than one who is inexpensive. Thanks again!
