Wow, get better soon...strokes are bad news but can also be recovered from if caught in time, from immediate family experience.
Let's hope for a 100% recovery and some preventative healthcare so no repeats. |
enough excuses, get on with it:)

Just got off the phone with Jim. He sounds good considering the circumstances. Very little slurring and talking a little slower than normal. Says he can move around but not great and the left side is still numb and they will have him back to normal in a few months. He will be spending a few more days in the hospital, and then they will be changing his meds up.
Says he had the stroke Saturday morning, felt like he had slept wrong and was a little numb with a sore neck, took most of the day for it to become apparent that he'd had a stroke. Sounds like he dodged a bullet on this one. I told him if he needs anything to let us know, pelican will help him out. Started a new thread so as to not bog down the NOLA thread. We've got to save this for Jim to finish his story after he gets better! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/740882-pelican-down-duellers-had-stroke.html |
I am reassessing my previous criticism of the delays in regaling us with tales of debauchery.
|
Great story so far. Get well soon so you can finish it.;)

I’m smelling an epic thread revival.

A guy who coping with a major life-threatening medical problem. Near death experience.
(did we mention life-threatening?) Despite that, he is going to check in with his buddies on Pelican. |

Just noticed this thread and read the entire 8 pages. I'm more than certain the fellow in that photo was a friend of mine that is no longer with us. His initials were D.P. I grew up in Jackson MS and have really never left the area. Know a lot of the foreign car guys around here forever. Can't place an attorney named "Jim", that has me puzzled. "Jim" probably remembers a band with ties to the MS Delta known as "The Tangents". Duff was the singer/guitarist and Charlie was the sax player/singer. Both have left us. But as the story goes, Duff and Charlie found themselves in New Orleans during Mardi Gras once upon a time, drinking and driving. Duff was driving and Charlie was riding. They get pulled over and Duff gets arrested, the officer then walks over to the passengers side of the car and opens the door on Charlie. The officer tells Charlie to get out of the car, he's going downtown as well. Charlie asks the officer "Why the hell you arresting ME?" The officer says "For Drunk in Public". Charlie says "Hell, I was a private drunk UNTIL YOU OPENED THE DAMN DOOR!" |
SCdad...small world. D.P. was one of my closest friends. We pretty much had coffee every Sunday morning when he wasn't off somewhere in his Varieze. I was the one who found him after he didn't show up for work as I had a key to his house.
REMEMBER Tangents well. Lived in Greenwood from 1984 to 1998 before moving to Madison. Wonder if our paths have crossed? |
Isn't that Tim Hancock in that photo?

Sorry for the loss. :(

Sad. Mossguy has left us too.
|
My local Mississippi sources just informed me that Jim (Dueller) passed away in his sleep last week. We had a lot of common car friends, but I can't recall ever meeting Jim.
|
I am devastated...
RIP Jim... |
Heartbreaking news.
