Let' talk Best Extreme Summer tires!

I've ran a set of Bridgestone RE-11's for 37,000 miles on my Che'vette. I picked up 3 nails in the left rear and destroyed the side wall with about 3/32" left on the tires. Is there any better Hot Street tire?

Call that car of yours what it is. You are dishonoring the name. How about the Conti Extreme Contact DW?

I had Goodyear on my 930. When they were worn, I decided to try something else because they were getting hard to find and super expensive. I needed 315s. tire rack had some Kumho ECSTA XS in my size and the salesman suggest I try them because all the feed backs were great. They are fantastic in grip and rode ok. Everything rides ok with my suspension.

Hankook RS3s on my E46 M3, and Dunlop Star Spec Z1s on my Elise. The Hankooks seem to be a bit faster on a car to car comparison. I would have bought them for the Elise but the sizes weren't available. There are new Star Specs this year - Z2s - and they are well-reviewed. I also here the BFG Rival is a really strong tire.

Star Spec doesn't come in 265/35/18 and 305/30/19 Nitto NT-01's have poor reviews on Corner-Carvers

Pilot Sports? The BFG KD series has good reviews in the car rags. We went from RE11s to Dunlops on our family sedan and they work really well. Dry grip is similar but winter /wet is better with the Dunlops. Kumho is a tire I have had great luck with for a summer tire as well. (We use Blizzacks on that for winter)

Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I have used them on my 550i and I am very happy. I have a rear wheel drive car were grip is key and it takes a lot to induce any wheel spin. Slightly more expensive but wear considerable better. Quiet, very highly rated. Michelin*Pilot Super Sport

RE11's are overall the best, but pricey. that's why all the weekend racers go with the star specs. i'm on yoko ad08's and they're really nice too.

In my most recent tire experiences for autox and HPDE (last three years) I'd rank them as follows: Hankook RS3 Star Spec Z1 R888 615K A048R This is on an assortment of cars -- my E36 M3, my E46 M3, my Miata, my Civic Chump Car, and my Elise. The Star Specs on the Chump Car did amazingly well for 13 hours of lapping.

I have RE-11's on the SC and R-S3's on the 996. I track both. Overall I like the RE-11 better and will probably replace the R-S3's with RE-11's when the time comes.

 I'm a fan of these - Yokohama Advan Neova AD08. 2nd set I've run on the 930.
