I am going to Boston next week too, but stuck with co-workers. Any suggestions in Boston or Cambridge that we might want to check out that aren't necessarily in the top 10 in Yelp etc. We would like to try something new that is NOT in the North End.

Sorry for the late reply Neil, I've been in NY and just back now catching up.
Unfortunately, the best recommendation I have is in the North End. The Daily Catch It is phenomenal, truly a gem. Other good restaurants: Harvard Square http://russellhousecambridge.com/ Boston Island Creek Oyster Bar Asian, your best bet is to venture into Chinatown where you can get authentic Chinese. Otherwise you are stuck with PF Chang crap.
