BigP,
Stay just as you are. Don't change anything. Always speak your mind. |
Don't worry, BigB
I, for one, find your posts quite entertaining, and FUN is why we all keep coming back to the BBS. If everyone was staid and boring, it'd be a drag. Stick around, don't worry what other people think. You're no more abnormal than anyone else on this board, btw I love the pics you posted of your 993! |

i don't find anything wrong with your threads. find some v. entertaining. joe and stu going off etc.......... i find it difficult to know exactly what someone is getting at sometimes, or whether someone is taking the p*ss with their responses ;) having seen your picture, you're a big softie really ain't ya;) what next guys, a big group hug, all hug screens now :D :D :D :D btw - ditto, want your car:cool: |
This board is polite.
Take a look at roadfly.org. It is a very active BMW board. There are people on there that will blow newbie's away and are constantly looking for a fight. Especially on the M5 board. This is the most imformative and newbie freindly board I have seen.

1. This is the best board I've been on!
2. No one is perfect! 3. This board allows people from ALL walks of life to interact fairly directly that might otherwise never meet and or get along (guys who make $40,000 and guys that clearly make 5-10 times that). I'd say that is pretty unique. 4. I like it here and I'm one of the ones who was cerimoniously blasted for drinking while posting! 5. I got to admit that I've looked at some of my own posts and after the fact figured I was lucky no one blasted me. 6. I do know this, I have a P-car that I like alot (plus this is fun) so I'm staying. If you fall into the same catagory, you should to.:D |

I've seen that photo of him in the 993 too and he's got limbs like pool tables! Could probably kick the hell out of somebody if he really wanted to... ;) |
Dear Big B,
I have to take my hat off for asking this type of qs I TOO have had the same feeling of leaving the board THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BOARD! But I too been blasted by some of this menbers in the past, it seems that some guys think that they are better than others, if you take some of this Posts you will ALWAYS have the SMART ASS Coments, insteed of helping they blast (others) that show how ignorant they are!Theres A LOT OF GOOD people here so do like I did to the ones that help THANK YOU! to the ones that don't help and are SMART ASS f*** then !! Regards Juan |
I was just thinking yesterday about how great this board is; it really is the best of the internet w/ free, (no charge), exchange of valuable information. People with no familiarity of 911s can log on and learn everything they need to know, from important and potentially expensive valuation questions, ("appraise this" arguments"), to the "how to" DIY discussions, rip-offs to avoid, (MM threads), Wayne's books and tech articles, etc., etc.
Brian, (BigB), You are clearly welcome here, and have become a valuable contributor, IMO, partly BECAUSE you are new to a lot of this and ask questions that probably other new people want to know but are afraid to ask. My only advice would be to ignore the responses which are not helpful, (we all have to), and don't bait people or take the bait when someone is just looking for a fight. Most people who want to have a "keyboard battle" are P.O.'ed at home about something and this is their only safe place to take a swing, IMO. I don't give them the pleasure, (ususally, but I'm not perfect either), let 'em just beat their heads against the wall cause they can't find a good "fight" on the Pelican board. ;) Stick around and contribute, most definitely. Many of us, (me), are new to this medium and still refining the etiquette. Take care, buddy. |
i thought you were good natured BigP, until you sent me that private message threatening me. now i think you are quite unstable.

Big B? I'm sure we've all made posts that pi**ed people off, have made posts trying to help with a problem, have made posts that give a laugh. Unless somebody is purposefully an a-hole, and those folks do tend to get punted, I think that's what the board is about....it seems to me you've learned that. This board is a constant learning process for me...a cyberspace version of what PCA used to be. We had our early differences, but you do seem to have figured the board out. So, welcome aboard... :)

Big, You better stay! I for one apreciate most everyones post, including yours.
This board is such an awesome place! I have met people from all over. I even have someone from this board I can call a friend, that lives in NY now (RONinLB). |
Hi Brian,
For the most part it seems that your posts start out asking a question and/or you are trying to get some kind of feed back on an issue. I have enjoyed reading them whether it is a heated or unheated discussion because I usually get something out of any post I read. But I have to admit...for some of your posts as soon as I read the way something was worded...I think...OUCH...someone is going to jump on that!! Here is my 2 cents & you can feel free to disregard my "female" point of view it if misses the mark. I do not think you 100 % intend on misdelivering your message. If you could slow down and re-read what you are posting and confirm that is what you want to say...then hit SEND. Then read (re-read) the responses back to you & see if your message was delivered as intended. If you do not think they got what you meant, then try to restate it in a way for clarity rather than taken as a personal insult. Hopefully you will get across what you intend to and then the feed back (if sarcastic in nature) will be much more of a bantering joking for fun "JK" nature and not intended as a flame session. Sometimes it is hard to tell if someone is just playing & joking around OR if they are intentionally being meanly sarcastic or condescending. That is where each person can decide if they want to join in or take a pass. Good luck with deciding if you feel you want to stay or go!! Sarah ;) |
Thanks guy's I feel better about things. I had a few rough experiences with some of my recent threads. Once again I enjoy my interaction here for the most part and who know's, quite possibly I will attend a real life get together. As with life outside the net people will push button's. I have always had difficulty learning to play well with others. I have learned to respect most of you folks. I like it here and will continue to pop in as frequently as I have been. I appreciate your 911 companionship. SmileWavy

singing,,, "everybody hates me, nobody likes me why did i make that post". quit your balling bigB, if you cant play well with others then sit at the back of the class at recess and just listen to the good kids. JUST KIDDING,, dont get all hot,, was just fanning the flames that seem to be subsiding on this post.
now, this olin cat, he seems like a tool. i might enjoy hanging around that guy for a spell. although when you hang with guys like that you better bring your own car, or have a $20 bill stashed in your shoe for cab fair. things will go south in a hurry with guys like that. O' BigB where art thow |

That's pretty good. "I'm pissed off because you don't agree with me, so I am going to beat you up." Whatever. In another online community I am active in, I organize gatherings of people in that (gaming) community. We gather ~400 "forumites" at a hotel over a 4-day weekend into a conference room and play games all weekend. A lot of times, the blowhards show up - and you know what? Everyone is always sweet as pie in person. I've had problems only once with unruly guests (drunk), so it stands to reason that what's said on the forums is pretty harmless. However - I tend to watch what I say to people. It's important. I like to be able to back up my forum posts by saying that I wouldn't change my tune if the person were standing next to me. |
By the way, Obin is alive and well and hanging out on the 924/944 board.
|
The conscensus seems to be almost everyone wants the BigB to stay and I certainly go along with that. I think it takes a big guy to even ask and put it to a vote.
But boy oh boy do you have a talent for stirring up a hornet's nest from an innocuous question! I think some of your posts became a lot of fun and I don't think any harm was done but perhaps a less aggressive pose sometimes would help? Whatever, it's your call. Like yourself, I think, my natural reaction in uncomfortable social situations is to turn aggressive and go on the offensive. I learned to keep myself in check, and what do you know, the social situation became a lot more comfortable. Despite your pose, I'm pretty sure you learned to keep yourself in check a long time ago too. If you spend some time going through the archives you will find lots of posts that I think with the power of hindsight the posters may regret, there are certainly some of mine when I wish I'd read a post better before replying or counted to ten. Oh by the way, before you send the boys round, warn them I fight dirty and my cat has a concealed weapons permit;) |
Shut up, BigB, you stupid moron!!! I HOPE YOU DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, on second thought, I think that was a bit too harsh. What I meant to say was, I like a little spice on this board. Too many bland, uber polite answers to every question would kill this board. As long as we all treat everyone with respect, a little controversy makes life interesting. |
Why is it that someone is always offended by what someone else says or how they say it.
Are we so engaged in trying to be "oh so politically correct" that a comment can't be made by someone else without having some cause or effect that offends someone? Everyone on this board has a right to say whatever he or she wants regardless of how it is said. If someone becomes offended by its content or how it's written then I say "Tough S**t". However, I do not condone foul language Although this is a Porsche Forum, as long as members provide input, it's blind to conten. That is unless of course, Wayne decides otherwise. That being said I think we all need to take a deep breath, relax and stop being so critical - you can get that anywhere. This is supposed to be a support forum for P-Car Owners who have problems and questions that need answers - not criticism. Steve |
Cool guy's its sucks to feel like the outsider sometimes. I am 10 times more Pcar educated than I was 6 short months ago. I do keep myself in check in social situations but I have to admit it's hard to decifer who's kidding and who's looking for a fight. In any case I think you for the most part you guys are great. My skin is now officially a little thicker here, I still have a distaste for a few idiots that throw out the one liners and contribute little outside of criticism.
For the guy who thinks I am unstable, I agree you never know when this cat is gonna freak, believe me! I am better than I used to be but you never know. ;) |
BigB, Change your handle to "Baby Huey"............
|
lol! this thread reads like an episode of oprah with a little jerry springer mixed in.
|
Agreed! This bad boy should go down to the O.T. dungeon I think its all worn out now.
|
bigB, nice car by the way.
|
Thanks. I am in the process of buying another car now. I am negotiating the deal should be finished tommorow. And yes the 993 is staying, it wont be going anywhere for a while.

It's said that most Porsche owners aspire to a Ferrari, after three months many are looking for a Porsche again, others are lost to Ferrari for good. Keep us all informed how you find they compare.
