^^^ what he said. We don't read every (or even than many) threads so we won't know when someone is acting out unless someone reports it. At that point it becomes a judgement call on whether or not there is action. And that action could be editing a post, closing a thread, warning someone, or temp ban. Totally subjective call and there are no perfect rules for what qualifies as there are a lot of factors at play.

To get a permanent ban, someone has to be a repeat offender and do something directly counter to what has been deemed ok/not ok. At some point we have to draw a line in the sand with some people and if they pee on it, off they go.

also, there is no remuneration or benefits for mods. Other than options on a condo on Ban Island...

Jferr006: to get banned, one must cross the line of common sense. Most folks get it here, but some folks like to push the limits a bit -- those get a short vacation to ban island. Those who continue to push the limits get to retire on ban island. Regarding your issue with someone snaggin your fb pictures: please point me in the right direction, if you need some action. I know this as first hand fact.

I was banned for saying another poster was for the Iraq war, and his type should be the ones paying for it. No vulgar language was used, no warning given. All I did was express how I felt about someones publicly proclaimed political stances.

Guess it was the wrong someone.
