What's your Internet speed?
I live upstate NY, best description would in the woods. This is what my speeds are today. How does this compare to the rest of the world?http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/23/9uzehymy.jpg

This is right in Denver with crap phone-line DSL.

On my to-do list is locate the router closer to the street. I've heard this will speed things up. The less in-house wiring the better, is what I've heard. |
Western NY deep southern-tier. Middle of nowhere...

With Cable you could likely do much better. DSL does have tight distance limitations and if you're toward the end of the run it can be lame. Cable however has even tighter distance limitations so they have to split out the neighborhoods or 'nodes' to be smaller. If you're on cable and getting that speed and your provider is advertising higher then something is either wrong with your cable run (ingress or interference of some kind). You should call them and have them check it out. Those speeds are low... The problem also could be your home network - what's that like? Details... |

I just ran it again.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364063856.jpg I find my d/l speed really varies depending upon the users in the house (3 computers) & the time of day/day of week. I could buy one tier faster but I don't need it. Ian |
Looks like my download speed is at the lower tier. Upload is in proper range.
I have cable through Brighthouse Central Florida. Yahoo! |
Is this not unlike comparing "packages"? If so - my wee wee is a nano. :(
|
I have the "basic" subscription.. there's also the Turbo variant, it's 4x faster
but i'm a cheapskate.. + it's hardly noticeable unless yer downloading 24/6 http://www.speedtest.net/result/2594966671.png |

Not sure how i got an upload speed higher than download. Mine is just the first tier from Verizon Fios. Have yet to find a need to pay up for faster service.

We have DSL w/ Frontier. I'm really not complaining as I just got a new MBP retina and it's damn fast and working great even with these speeds. Just did Facetime with a friend and it was very smooth and clear, no lag whatsoever. I don't know how to get details on the home network. Thanks

I just did the 20Mbps VDSL thing with CenturyLink here in Denver. Quite a bit better than what I was doing before.

After: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367878319.jpg They still limit the upload, which is a bummer. Cancelled my cable TV and got a DTV antenna and a Roku!!! Love it. Did one for fun at work: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367878371.jpg |
Seems to be slower than the amount of $/mo I pay for it

22.34 down and 13.78 up.
Cox cable at a service level that says I "might" reach download speeds up to 15 mbps! |

Just re-ran it from home. And this is through Wifi.... |

It would be much more relevant to include what you pay per month for the service. Any speed is usually available, for a price.
|
$60 home, $99 work.

sorry,
I'm paying $30 for the (18 down), (.8 up) that I posted earlier today. I was paying $40 for the (2.5 down, .6 up) that I had, so I'm quite happy! And, I cancelled my $80 Comcast basic cable. So, I'm net -$90 a month for now. Very happy. It's all relative, I know. |
