I just get all the paperwork and give it my preparer. He sends back forms to sign and I don't lose any sleep. Tried to do it a few times but gave up on doing that because of the headaches. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/pain30.gif

Mine are pretty straightforward, so it would pain me to pay someone to do something so simple.

Drafts are done. I owe big so putting off writing the check.

Tobra 03-26-2013 09:58 AM

I have a guy that does that. I just give him the disc and the info on the rental properties now. Finally a computer makes life a little simpler

I'm in the middle of a huge mess. Ours was rejected because somebody filed a claim as us six weeks ago. H&R block sent me a check dated a month before our appointment for a return we never filed. Apparently whoever it was used all of our information but tried to send the refund to their bank account. I spent an hour on the phone with the IRS this morning. You'd think they would want that acct number to track down who did this, but no of course not.

In my book, you did the year perfectly. Getting a big refund means you let 'the man' use your dough for free for a year.

Same, I do get refunds... not that complicated but just pay a guy to do them for me... that way they get done early and it is all over with.

Kinda like using a mechanic... sometimes it is just better/smarter to have a pro do it...

Just got done about 30 second ago and came cruising here and found this. I am glad all you bastards are suffering the same. See my accountant next Monday. I am looking forward to write that big fat check very soon. Oh joy.

widgeon13 03-26-2013 11:16 AM

Done but not filed, read it and weep.

dan88911 03-26-2013 11:33 AM

Got it organized and gave to my guy over the weekend.

Fred,
Your accountant doesn't try to fix his Porsche ( at least mine doesn't)
Don't do his job. A good accountant is the best thing you can do for yourself
I've been in this game a long time and getting a good accountant was one of the
best things I've done business wise

meet the tax guy on Friday afternoon. I have to file in CA, AZ, UT, & CO because I worked more than 15 days in each state last year. I think he finds more in tax avoidance than his fees.

E-filed last week, will write the check April 15. When you are retired and the only real variables in your taxable income are how much you roll from your IRA into the Roth IRA and how much of your SS gets taxed and you can't even come close to itemizing it's about as simple as it gets. Just have Turbo Tax fill in from last years return, change a few figures and e-file and it is done (except for writing the check of course).

I usually get a small refund as I always write the Jan. quarterly tax deposit larger than probably required so no chance of any penalties and I get it back within a few weeks anyway.

12own911 03-26-2013 08:08 PM

Almost done. Just need to fill in a couple off boxes and I am done.

5String43 03-26-2013 09:52 PM

Yes. Absolutely. Refund is in the pipeline.

All paperwork has been with the accountant since early March--still awaiting the almost inevitable bad news this year. Hate to write a check but I know its coming. K1 may offset some of it but I guess I will have to wait and see!

dafischer 03-27-2013 06:24 AM

Ours done yet? Nope, always an extension for us. I've completed 130 client tax returns, however. My wife has done about 150, and you know what they say about the shoemaker's children. Oh the joy of this time of year.

recycled sixtie 03-27-2013 06:35 AM

I have been using Turbotax for several years and have done a couple of tax courses.
However on a business channel here it suggested that if you do your own taxes that you once in a while have your taxes checked by a professional accountant/specialist in case you are missing some credits etc. :)

herr_oberst 04-06-2013 01:29 PM

Taxes are done. Just have to send in the check, but I'm gonna just go ahead and wait till the 15th for that!

Zeke 04-06-2013 02:07 PM

Mine is a mail in survey and they mail back the form to sign for the e-file. I never leave my chair except to go to the mailbox. And I wonder why that isn't done by email.

Hugh R 04-06-2013 03:33 PM

getting $100 back from the Feds and $24 from CA.
