In WA state you not only have to parallel but you have to back into an intersection and perform a right hand turn like you are backing into the flow of traffic. Don't know why for the life of me why would anyone do something like that on the road. Closes I get is pulling out of the garage and onto the street.

In the UK the test involved parallel parking, an emergency stop, reversing around a corner, a three point turn in the road and a hill start. Touch a curb and you are done.

Then I moved to Canada. Test is drive around a bit and stop at the stop signs. Standard of driving is abysmal since no one has ever been taught anything.

I can parallel park but don't like to. Yes it was part of the driving test here and yes I practiced and got good at it a long time ago but I don't enjoy it. If I am driving a car that I do not own, no I will not parallel park it. I will drive around the block and look for another spot.

I'm from the suburbs but, visted Richmond a lot as a teenager so I'm pretty good with parallel parking. When I go there now I typically take the Sonic because it's tiny and fits easily just about anywhere and I feel like I have better control with the manual. i get a little annoyed when I'm stuck behind someone that is trying to pull straight in and can't figure it out, holding up traffic.

I pretty much never parallel park. I have it easy with where I drive.

Last time I did was at a crowded dentist office. In 944, no problem.

As for how everyone is at driving - go watch at your local indoor karting track and see what happens there on a daily basis.

I was taught to aim my LH taillight at the LH headlight of the parked car behind. That was in the day when you could see both and they were on the corner of the car. Now I just aim the LH side of my car to be in line with the LH front side of the parked car behind.

One counter steer going forward to the right and I'm parked.

Even if I missed.
