Associates degree question....

If you have 60+ units from one school, then went to another to finish off the core requirements (12 units or less) and also get a certificate not offered at the first.....can you still apply to graduate from the first school?

Or do you have graduate from the last school attended?

The difference is that the first school has a longer record in the community, has better name recognition, I am in the Athletic Hall of Fame, I have close ties to the community.

The second school has only been in existence for a short time and I have no ties.

AFAIK, the schools get to make their own rules in this regard... and the rules are usually designed to benefit their bottom line. Money money money makes the world go 'round. The short answer is, you gots to ask the school.

Did you register at the second school as a transient student? Or did you actually move, transfer, etc and complete your degree under their terms?

Mike,
are the 2 schools in the same district?
check with the school you want the AA from,go off that req list, and some classes may not be transferable.
Good luck,I ran into the same thing up here, with a math req, which was not transferable from one district to another, like math changes from one county to the next.
Don't get me started on the quality of instructors....

Well you can graduate from any school you want by transferring credits back and forth, but if you can't get the degree you want from school #1, what's the point? And no offense but community recognition of a particular school coupled with an Associate's Degree doesn't mean much.

Typically to graduate with a degree from a school they will require you to have a minimum of X number of credits taken from that school to graduate from said school with a degree. Usually you can transfer credits back and forth...however, my school says the last 64 credits or something towards the bachelor's degree needs to be taken from them.

Case in point schools don't want to issue you a degree if you transfer in 90% of your credits towards the degree and then just take the last 2 or 3 courses at their school. So they have minimum requirements.

A copy of your transcript and a trip to the registrars office where they do transfer evaluations will clear up your questions the quickest.
