"The bike is a veritable barn find" WTF!?!?

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people? I just went and saw this bike:

1995 Ducati 900SS CR SuperSport Cafe Racer - WOW

Given the guys lengthy description, you would think you were going to see a well maintained, beloved bike that happend to have been dropped at some point. The bike is junk! Its clearly sat outside for long periods of time in the rain, everything is covered in rust. The 'low speed' accident looks like it was pretty bad, maybe even a high side flip. Tons of schit broken off. The fittings on the oil cooler lines had been slathered in rubber roofing patch material to keep them from leaking!

For god sake, how clueless can some people be?

To each their own I guess. Personally, I never found much appeal in the 900SS back then. But yes to the character - the Italian build thing, desmo, rattling clutch, torque, sound. Thumbs down on the full faired versions too. Had fun for awhile in long sweepers but its slow in transition and a lot of work for tight radius, lefty-righties. Is that market price for a rough one these days? For parts value only???

I'm liking someones creative Virago - Jap version of the same era. Not sure if its a 750 or 920 but looks like a 920 tank but a shaft drive of the 750.

No. For $3000 you can get a decent pre-99 Supersport, $4200ish for a cherry one. I was thinking the bike in the ad would need a little repair, but be otherwise well maintained. Its a parts bike, and many of the parts are worthless because of corrosion. I would offer him $1200, and that would be generous. Didn't bother, because he was going on and on about how he had already had some offers in the 'low 2k range', but he turned them down because it was such nice bike. Totally reality disconnect.

The guy is dreaming. It's only a CR, it's been wrecked, and it has a lot of miles. $1500-$1800 tops, if someone want a project bike.

Monday shopping? Someone on the other thread found an Italian Harley-Davidson Sprint / Aermacchi. But check out this 1960 Duc Bronco on CL:

1960 Ducati Bronco 125

Reminds me of a Rickman off-road I had with a 125 Zundapp.

It really was weird standing there in person talking to this guy. Its like he was talking about a different bike he was imagining in his head. I failed to mention that the bike had clearly been outside at some point when someone with a paint sprayer had worked close by. There was overspray all over it.

Did you feel like the guy in the Monty Python skit with the dead parrot?
