B-Ball player leg break last night--did you cry?

Sooo.. did you cry last night over the player getting his leg broken?

Just about every form of news media I heard/saw today exclaimed that "everyone, here and at home", were in tears.

Really? It affected THAT many people's lives that they had to cry over it??

Pfft

Wait, you think the media does not sensationalize every single story?

It was a bad break. Bones get broken every single day all over the country and the planet. Most don't have national media to cover it.

No, I cringed. Or shuddered. Got the willies. Something like that.

I avoided watching, but if his knee joint wasn't involved, he's fine. Best scenario is to break the bone and leave the joint intact. His leg will heal stronger than before.

X1000. Perfect, I was thinking the same thing. Louisville players don't go to class, the just pass class on the way to the gym.

This was an "open" fracture which complicates recovery.
An increased risk of infection and blood supply to the bone is disrupted when the periosteum is affected.

No, I did not cry.

Breaking news tonight on our local Indy channel. They interviewed the "mom" on the news regarding her son. She spent a restless night at home. She was worried about her son, as all mom's do at times like these. The camera didn't catch the "dad" in any of the interview. Hmmm, wonder where Dad is??????, Dad, where are you, are you concerned about your son? Dad, please come out and show some concern, please.

I didn't cry when I broke any of my bones, I'm sure not gonna shed too many tears over someone I've never heard of getting hurt.

Why would I cry? I didn't when it happened to me. And mine was a double compound, tibia & fibula. Five hours laying in the ER without even an aspirin for the pain before they operated. Gruesome injury for sure but the body is an amazing thing. Endorphins block the pain, until the F'ing slut/bytch/whore nurse wacks my legs against the post getting me onto the operating table, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR X 100. THEN i screamed bloody murder.

That's the knot I have left. Actually lucky to have the leg.

Didn't see it but when I heard the story, I immediately pictured the Joe Theismann injury, which I did see. Once was enough for me, no need to see a modern version of such a gruesome event.

Didn't shake me up - but that's my personality. Cool and calm under any type of negative situation. Not everyone is like that. Many folks are very emotional and tend to dramatize situations. ESPECIALLY the media!

It was a NASTY break - bone jutting out - and totally unexpected - which in itself brings a touch of drama.

We were watching the game and missed the injury. We were concerned that it was a head or neck injury that could affect Kevin Ware for life. I am glad to hear that he will recover and play again.
I wonder if this was a regular season game between Louisville and Seton Hall (for example) would this be news?

Google Kenyon Martin leg break. Nothing new.

He'll probably get better medical care than most of us.
